First time here and we'll be back. Spacious sites, beautiful lake, nice restrooms w/showers, a large beach and kids play area. Buy the annual SD camping pass and get a 2nd for 1/2 price. It seems this is a gem in the rough. Most people seem to like Lake Kampeska and the 3 campgrounds that are on it more than here. Sites 51-53 are very nice. Right by the lake.

Beautiful SD State Park for camping, hiking, fishing and just relaxing. Some sites are large and have trees for shade. Comfort stations are clean and modern.

The absolutely WORST campground hosts ever.... NO direct PARK RANGER contact either... We had booked into this campground for FIVE nights on the SECOND night we ran into problems with teens running amuck and no way to get someone to address the problem! There were three tents and five vehicles in one site, the next site had another three camping units and multiple vehicles, mostly pick up trucks with air beds in the truck bed! Within two hours the vehicle number grew to over 25 and the park host would do nothing! !! Claiming, well, it was just High School windup parties and no big deal! HUM teens, alcohol and loud music, no really what could go wrong???? When we attempted to contact the posted contact number for the Park Ranger we just got an answering machine. Eventually the Sheriff arrived and the vehicles began to disburse, mostly the trucks just parked in vacant sites until morning, the noise however continued until 2:30 in the morning.... Thankfully they all left the next day! Second issue was the following night when the winds picked up. The park was tinder dry and sparks from the unattended campfires were floating in the air and posing risk to ignite the hundreds and hundreds of dry Ponderosa pine needles on the ground which had yet to be cleaned up for the season. We bought a rake to clean up our site, when we left there were five piles two feet wide and a foot high of the needles we raked up! Horrible park maintenance and a HUGE fire hazard. We love this park, but we will not be going back. The campground hosts have become to lackadaisical in their apparent secured summer camp site to concern themselves with ensuring park rules, regulations or maintenance issues are...

If I could give a zero i would! They charge $29.00 a night, but then when you get there they charge you an extra $35 to park your vehicle? They don't tell you that at all! Then when I arrived someone took my spot and they were booked for tomorrow not the day of. I had to wait for the people to leave 1 hour and a half! Like how did the...
