My little canine buddy and I got up early to check out daybreak. Even cloudy, it’s still beautiful. #iowa #chihuahua #timelapse #dogsoftiktok #chibeagle #park #sunrise

A Must-See Marvel in Iowa City! We drove all the way from Michigan just to see the World's Largest Wooden Nickel, and it was absolutely worth it!!! Standing at a jaw-dropping 16 feet in diameter and weighing around 4,000 pounds, it left me completely speechless. You really can't appreciate the scale until you're standing in front of it. It’s not just a quirky roadside attraction—it’s a bold piece of protest art with a fascinating backstory. The craftsmanship is impressive, and the buffalo design carved into the wood is a beautiful touch. It’s mounted between two telephone poles in a horse pasture just off Dubuque Street NE, and once you spot it, you’ll definitely want to loop back for a closer look. A few tips for your visit: Parking is limited, and there’s no official lot. You can pull off the road safely in a few spots, but be very careful—it's a busy area. Do NOT park in private driveways nearby. Respect the locals and the space. If you want a safer option, park at Waterworks Prairie Park and walk the trail to the nickel. Whether you're a fan of roadside oddities or just passing through Iowa City, this giant wooden coin is worth the detour. Just be ready to say, “I can’t believe how big that is!”

Oh Iowa, you skalliwag! You are fast becoming my favorite tourist state. Forget about the Grand Canyon or Mount Rushmore. Travel on over to Iowa and gaze at the largest wooden nickel, or the biggest popcornball, or Albert the bull. And don't forget about the tree in the road. You have kept your obscure and whitty representations of community pride slightly hidden. These roadside tidbits have not been easy to find. Shame, shame

There comes a time in every person's life in which you realize that everything has changed. As I gazed upon this magnificent structure created by man, I came to the understanding that I, and my worldly perceptions, had evolved. I was better, more knowledgeable, and overall more included in the flow of the universe. This wooden nickel changed my life, and I bid you see it and change...
