—I HATE THAT I HAVE TO LEAVE THIS REVIEW— I have been to the naval museum on almost every family vacation I have taken to the area. It has been 10 years since my last visit; in addition, I am now an adult and was taking our baby to her first museum. We walked around and had an excellent experience. The museum is clean and filled with amazing history. We were most excited about the realistic flight simulator they offer. Towards the end of our visit (45 minutes before the museum closed) we went to the simulators and were told we needed to purchase tickets downstairs. We ran downstairs and bought them without hesitating. We were told to do the MaxFlight first. My wife and I did it and had a great time, two of our friends with us were next to go and they were slightly over the combined weight limit once they got on. They were told to go downstairs and get a refund, the one who bought the ticket went downstairs to do just that. My friend and I waited in line for the other simulator and asked if time would allow us to do it (it was 3:45, museum closed at 4) , the kind worker said of course and we were the last riders. He radioed down and had them send our friend back up to the simulator once he got his refund. The kind gentleman had us go ahead and get in the simulator and await our friend. We waited forever and heard lots of talking and commotion outside, then the door closed and simulation started. Upon exiting, our wives and babies, as well as our friend. were nowhere in sight. We were told to head directly to the exit (it was 4:01 PM after the wait for the ride to start). We came down the immediate stairs and an older guy who was a volunteer started berating us for holding them up from closing. It was 4:01PM and we had complete and utter approval from the older worker running the simulation. This man continued to insult us and our family as we made our way out the door. Outside, we find out that we waited because the same rude volunteer would not allow our friend back up the stairs to do the ride he had paid for. This was 10-15 minutes prior to the museum closing also. After a great museum experience, the sheer misconduct of this volunteer is all I can think of. I didn’t say anything in my defense because I was literally speechless at the way he was talking to us. We will not be visiting again, and plan to talk to someone about this person’s behavior.

Our group was also comprised of two insurance agents, a financial advisor, and a fraud investigator. We are not problematic in...

The National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola is an absolute treasure trove for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs alike. This world-class facility showcases the incredible evolution of naval aviation through an impressive collection of aircraft that spans from the early days of flight to modern military aviation.

Spectacular Aircraft Collection The museum’s hangar displays are nothing short of breathtaking. Walking through the exhibits feels like traveling through time, witnessing the remarkable progression of airpower that has shaped naval aviation history. From vintage World War II fighters to sleek modern jets, each aircraft tells a story of innovation, courage, and technological advancement. The restored aircraft are maintained in pristine condition, allowing visitors to truly appreciate the engineering marvels up close. Active Naval Air Station Setting What makes this museum truly special is its location on Naval Air Station Pensacola, an active military installation. This authentic setting adds an extra layer of excitement and realism to the experience. The sounds of military aircraft in the distance remind you that this isn’t just a static display – it’s a living, breathing part of aviation history.

Blue Angels Bonus If you’re fortunate enough to visit when the Blue Angels are stationed at home, you might catch them practicing their precision aerobatic routines. There’s nothing quite like witnessing these skilled pilots and their perfectly choreographed flights – it’s an unforgettable bonus that makes the visit even more memorable.

Overall Experience The National Naval Aviation Museum successfully combines education, inspiration, and entertainment in a way that appeals to visitors of all ages. Whether you’re a military history enthusiast, an aviation lover, or simply someone who appreciates American heritage, this museum delivers an exceptional experience that honors the brave men and women who have served in naval aviation. The museum staff is knowledgeable and passionate, the facilities are well-maintained, and the admission price is incredibly reasonable for the quality of experience provided. Plan to spend at least half a day here – you’ll want to take your time absorbing all the incredible displays and stories. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the...

IMPORTANT INFORMATION! Just a reminder that it takes at least 30 minutes to enter the Naval Base WEST GATE. If you plan on attending any blue Angels event prepare to arrive at least 1hr prior to show time at the gate. We were very disappointed as we arrived early at the main gate which I five minutes to the location, only to be sent 20mins to the West Gate entrance and wait an additional 30mins to enter. At this point we were confused to see the air show well underway. Apparently they started 30mins early bc of air space issues. Another woman let me know that they had been a couple of times before and the shows had been cancelled due to mechanical issues. Though these things are rare occurrences, it is something I wish I had known and prepared for as we drove two hours to see the show.

The upside is that the museum NEVER disappoints! It is a must see and we spent hours there with our 3rd and 7th grader. We started at a little after 10a.m. and left at 4p.m. We expected them to be bored at some point but they absolutely loved it. There are many decommissioned planes and helicopters to get in and pretend to fly. Many video documentaries with seats to sit and enjoy the shows. You can even take a peak inside the air force one with a Nixon mannequin inside. There was a large turret gun that they could operate and many engines to look at. There are a few free guided tours that are offered throughout the day as well.

There is also a small restaurant on site within the museum that serves paninis, blts chilli and chicken salad type entrees. The food was really good, the staff was very friendly and it is decorated with flight logos and memorabilia which is interesting and fun to look at. Your entire party needs to be with you to be seated and there is wheelchair access.

Right outside of the Blue Angels show before you enter the museum there are also good trucks. This is great if you want to eat outside before you go to the museum.

The flight simulator is 40$ a ride and you need to be 52" to ride alone. There are also IMAX style movies throughout the day, but the bummer is they are a little pricey just like the flight simulator.

It's a must do! We will go back again and visit the lighthouse and Fort Barrancas that are also located...
