I live here and was having a hard time deciding what I could do with my 6yr granddaughter and 3yr old grandson. The weather was iffy & 10k+ people were downtown for the Saint Patrick's Day run, so the beach & downtown were not an option! I looked at options that would be 30$ to 50$ and with only 90 minutes of entertainment for us I couldn't choose! I then saw the Wildlife Sanctuary of North West Florida needed donations and Boom that's when I knew we would go as a family inviting my sister & her husband who donaties fish there regularly. ❤️ We had a great time, and the kids got to see our local Wildlife up close and personal and got to hand the food donations to the volunteer❤️ I recommend this for any family!!! The kids learned many things & giving back was the best thing we could have done together....

I saved a 1 week old baby squirrel & took her to this place. My cat brought her in through my doggie door. The baby squirrel's ear was injured. I took care of her through the night. Cleaned her wound & gave her a little drop of homemade Pedialyte. I kept her wrapped up in a little blanket/cloth with thick socks on the bottom for extra Cushing in a little box on a heating pad. She was warm & she slept the whole time. The wildlife sanctuary took her & they're going to nurse her back to health. I donated $20 for helping take care of her. I can call & check on her progression. I can volunteer if I wanted to see her again. The worker Skyler was really nice with all the questions I had for them. I never knew this place was here. It is...

I loved this place! There wasn't a whole to to see but what there was ... Was impressive. I guess it is good that there isn't because it means they are able to release many back into the wild. There were several awesome bald eagles. Made you want to stand tall and sing our National anthem! But the most unusual was a snow white Turkey Vulture. As odd as it sounds, that vulture was gorgeous! I have never seen a snow white one. I thought maybe it was an albino but the head coloration didn't look different from the others. There were good number of other birds there. Hawks, also impressive.

It is well worth a side trip as you go through town on the alphabet streets. Just pop over on S street if they are...
