Update since: I went to take kids during summer to this water park and i was very disappointed. There was about 6 unsupervised kids around 12yrs, 3 boys 3 girls, one boy was kicking and hitting on the girl and they was all laughing as she laid on the ground. Then on the big water bucket thing a kid was laying under it and some other kid who looked about 7yrs ran up to the boy laying down minding his own business and slapped him on his back so hard and ran off. Now my 9yr old is laying under the bucket thing and that 7yr old comes running up on my son and I sure enough yelled at that kid telling him "you better keep your hands of my kids, I don't tolerate that sht!!!" He looked shocked and ran off. I'm not a mean person but these kids was all kinds of wild! So there was trash around on ground and i finally after 15 min told my kids let's go elsewhere. I had to have a talk with my kids about how these kids was beating on the girl was not okay to be playing like that! We ended up back at Heros park where it was nice calm and clean with respectful kids playing around while parents supervised. But the dog park was still great and the little lake area pond thing. (Previous post from summer before- Love this park. You won't be...
Read morePeoria really knocked it out of the park with this public playground and splash pad! There many aspects of this play area for kids that are winners. First, there is finally adequate shade provided for the play areas and seating for parents in the shade. There are two restrooms facilities placed right next to the play area, usually at parks they are far away! The next brilliant choice was to place the splash pad and playground right next to each other. At first I was worried about slipping, but the entire play area is cushioned turf and provided a non-slick surface. Also, I know this sounds strange, but when the kids get cold from playing in the splash pad, which all kids do even in Arizona, they can hop over to the playground and play to warm up. I thought we’d spend an hour at most and ended up staying almost 3 hours! The Pioneer community park and splash pad in Peoria is worth the drive even for those who live in Phoenix like us. POV: I have to say growing up in Phoenix I was always disappointed by the Phoenix city playgrounds (zero shade and old) and now that I have children of my own, my opinion hasn’t changed too much. Phoenix should take notice of what other cities are doing to provide nice free public...
