We were very excited to try this winery on a weekend trip, because we'd driven by before and it looked gorgeous. When we got inside, the atmosphere was quaint and aesthetically pleasing. The tasting, however, was a bit of a bust. We were given 2 free tastings of their extensive selection, barring several that were marked as $4 each, and we had the option of adding 2 more non-marked wine tastings for $5. There was also the option to purchase a flight tasting of their 5 or 6 ice wines, which we were excited about. The three wines we tried were good, but not of the quality that we could really justify spending $20 on a tasting flight, so we decided against the ice wine sampler. I wish I'd had the opportunity to try more of their wines without having to spend so much to see what I like, as I was expecting to purchase bottles of some that I'd enjoyed, and am an ice wine lover from an area where they aren't very common. I understand the need to charge for a tasting, as giving tastings can be pricy to the winery. However, I've never had so few tasting options available without spending $20+ dollars just to find out what I'd like to purchase. Over all, it was a pleasant place with friendly staff, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who wants to be certain they like a wine before investing...
Β Β Β Read moreWe stopped on a Sunday at 5:30pm to dine (closing time is 6:00pm) we were informed upon entering that they werenβt taking any more βhot ordersβ but we were welcome to a dessert. A family of 8 was there and just deciding what to order. Unsure what this establishmentβs guidelines or definition of closing is. (Is if you close at 5:30, please indicate this). We strongly suggest calling before making any type of drive (unless youβd like dessert offered in a hurried fashion). When the gentleman who greeted (?) witnessed us overhearing the family of 8 perusing the menu, it was a sheepish moment. No matter how quaint and possibly good their food may have been, this is not indicative of their value of their consumer. In closing, Iβm certain that they would have been willing to make a sale with ease in their pricey gift shop filled with items that can be easily obtained at any Cracker Barrel across the Nation. Call ahead or perhaps just...
Β Β Β Read moreIf I could give this place negative stars I would. McClureβs has been mine and my familyβs go to for apple cider. We literally drive 1 hour and 45 minutes ONE WAY for the cider only, but NEVER AGAIN. Me and my parents run up there a couple weeks ago and my dad and I were treated like we were criminals. A short lady that was working in the winery part rudely raced over to us while we were waiting to use the restroom and just stood and stared at us. I told her we were just using the bathroom and looking around, but she still refused to leave us aloneβ¦. At least until she noticed my mom then she was free to walk away. It seemed like once she seen someone of her color she was able to ease herself and walk away. REALLY?!?!?!?! That was the most uncomfortable embarrassing thing I have been through. Not one time did she harass anybody else in the store or race up to anybody else the way she did my dad and I....
