Trail info updated at end of review. Had already gone to the east shore of this beautiful lake, which is wonderful but has VERY limited parking. This side of the lake has much more parking, I'm guessing 40 spaces. We have gone on a couple of the trails and LOVE coming here. There was a sign at the beginning of the trail that goes around the West lake that stated there was "UNEVEN Surfaces" (see photo, it's the trail that has a bench and a little bridge at the beginning)- it was perfect LOL. We didn't realize it the first time we went on this trail IT SPLITS... If you keep hugging really close to the water MOST of this trail was covered with tree roots, If you stay to your right the path is wider and smoother. I loved every inch! There where several lovely strong benches mostly on the trail close to the water to take advantage of the view. . The sign stated that there was a paved trail too...the Arrowhead Trail....that is a trail that goes to the east side of the lake - it crosses the lake at the top of the West Parking Loop it is very wide and paved. Great place to watch/listen for birds, and wildlife, spotted a little ribbon snake last time. The walk completely around the lake will take you less than an hour, leisurely 40 minutes. There is a trail that goes from a small set of stairs by the second set of parking space to the beginning of the West entrance of the Arrowhead trail If you start by the stairs the trail continues up hill a little and had several fallen trees across the path. Just before the end of trail (beginning if you started by the Arrowhead trail). There is a fire pit surrounded by benches made by scout troops. Which makes me want to send out a shout of gratitude to all the people who have had a hand in making this an awesome place for both people and pets😁. Every person AND dog we have seen at this park looks like their having the time of their lives. There is a trail that starts at south side of the divide between the two lakes. We decided to ventured onto it thinking it went around the East lake, see photo... but could not make it around that lake....see photos....it is marked. "trail" when you get to the cat tails but we only got about 20 feet beyond...

Simply Googled "where to walk dogs near me" and Peters Lake Park was the closest. So we headed out. Easy, hardly any traffic, kind of drive. The map said it was close but I was in the middle of a neighborhood. Kept following directions and got to the park entrance. Unless you know where to go, not sure you'd just happen across it. Plenty of parking. Got out and we started our walk. The well-kept path / road takes you back into some woods but runs parallel with the lake. There were a ton of dogs and people fishing, everything was clean. But what totally surprised me is how nice everyone was. Everyone I came across said hi, asked about the girls, let their dogs say hi to mine. It was really nice to chit chat and not get any weird looks for being nice. I believe the path goes all the way around the lake. However, it was getting warm and the girls needed to cool down. Have to say I was really...
Read moreWe were looking for a place nearby our hotel to take our golden retriever for a quick swim and this place came up when I googled pet friendly beaches. It's a nice, but small park with a lake so clearly you need to get there early on the weekends if you want a spot near the shore. We finally found a spot for him to take a dip but it was less than ideal since it was at the end of a wooded path and the bank of the lake wasn't easy to get in and out of not to mention all of the downed trees in the water but it got the job done. Lots of fishing and boating going on here and seems to be a great local park. As we were walking around the lake I noticed that there was a bird feeder hanging in a tree and underneath there were several chipmunks which absolutely made my evening, it's the little things that...
