I have stayed in the cabins, and the experience was amazing. I would recommend not staying in the Log Motel. You believe there is AC by reading amenities while booking a room. After checking in we found out AC was not available. The room smelled musty and like urine. The company in the room next to us was extremely loud and kept us up all night. It was unpleasantly hot in our room and couldn't even open our window because of the neighbors who booked the room beside us. They stayed out until after 2am on the porch. Their children ran back and forth on the porch for hours. At one point, they opened our door and walked right in our room. We had to keep our door locked. I would definitely stay in a cabin again inheartbeateat. It was an amazing experience.. A little updated. 2 years later and I Recently, recently stayed there again in a cabin, and it was horrible. Staff was quick to give us a 2nd cabin. The second cabin was worse than the 1st. When trying to contact them about cabin #2. I had to call twice, and both times were put on hold and disconnected. I sent an email and attached pictures and was never emailed back or called. After making the first call about the 1st cabin being dirty and several hornets nests, the staff did come within minutes, they were on the front porch standing, waiting to clean and take care of the bees' nest. I felt rushed by this and tried to move my things as fast as possible to the next cabin. As I was walking back from next door ( the new cabin ), I met staff passing me carring my personal belongings, including my purse. They did not ask permission to carry my personal belongings. I appreciate the help but was uncomfortable with them just picking up my purse and carrying it to the next cabin. The pictures are from the 2nd cabin. There were dead bugs and food crumbs in the kitchen cabinet. Mud and dirt all over the bed spread. What look to be saw dust or wood of some type all over the night stand. I used clorox wipes. I had to wipe the nightstand, the headboard, and the footboard down. I also cleaned the mantle in the living room and the corner shelf. I ran my hand across the counter in the kitchen, and it was covered in salt and pepper. The back deck had poison ivy growing up through the deck and on the railing. There were once again 2 more hornets nest. I understand things will be overlooked and missed, but this cabin has not been dusted or cleaned in some time. It's such a beautiful country, but it's hard to relax in a place you don't feel comfortable in.

Well kept grounds, buildings and rooms. Staff was always polite, friendly and helpful. We stayed in the onsite motel, but there were other options such as individual cabins, tenting and etc., off site. Our room was clean, bright and cheerful, beds were comfortable and it was surprisingly quiet with minimal traffic noise. We took the cavern tour that was onsite. The front half of the cave was barren of formations and we were totally surprised in the newer discovered section, in which there is the stalactite room that is more than 250+ feet tall in some areas. Where you are greeted by thousands of mostly active formations, a great majority of what appears straw stalactites continue to grow. There are also many other variants of stalactite formations such as; stalagmites, column, flowstone, bacon, ribbon (note, the ribbon formation is supposed to be the worlds largest at an estimated six tons) and other named formations. Another, quirky feature in this cavern is what I would call a fishing hole. The small stream running through this cavern has been tapped into, to create a small pond which is lighted and trout introduced into it (we were told they are fed and apparently are switched out somewhat regularly). Having been to many Caverns throughout the United States, we thoroughly enjoyed this one. The Gift Shop is really large, clean, fresh and full of good products. We wandered about for looking, feeling, trying and buying stuff for more than an hour, maybe two. While a bit pricy (what a surprise 'Gift Shop') we were satisfied and happy with what we purchased. NOTE: The 'Bear Jam' is really, really good. All in all we really enjoyed our stay at Smoke Hole Caverns and enjoyed all the friendly chatter and different things it had to offer. Enjoy we did.

Very informative and beautiful(if a little short, not their fault, it's just a small cave system that wasn't explored any deeper) cavern tour that is a must stop/see if you've never been before, especially if you've never had the experience of being in a cave. Not an expansive cavern compared to some bigger cave systems, but still pretty cool to stop and see and lots of opportunities for some great photos. I can't compare it to Seneca because they've never been open when I'm up in the area. Massive gift shop has just about everything you could ever imagine(including Yellowstone merchandise if you are into the show) and you can easily spend an hour or two in there shopping. Reasonable prices on clothing and they have an entire Western/Country section upstairs for men and women. Huge selection of coffee mugs and local crafts. Picked up several items to bring home for family and they also have some awesome stickers for your car or ski helmet or whatever you choose to put them on. Friendly staff and the lady working the front register(her name escapes me right now, but she's from Louisiana) is very knowledgeable about the area and steered us to an awesome restaurant(Cheetah B's) for lunch after we were done with our tour. If you have kids that are in to science/exploration it's a great stop and the gem mining is a pretty cool and educational activity for the kids to do.

So i will start from the beginning. When we arrived, we walked in and saw a very luxurious and wide. Open space for gifts, collectibles and memorabilia directed towards the location. One. Of the things I noticed was a large sticker console in the beginning of the door that had a tremendous amount of trump and right wing stickers involving second amendment and america first. That being said, the one of the things that bothers me is that everyone that comes through there does not share those opinions added to the fact that America includes Canada, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Costa Rica, Bolivia, all of the countries that our only entire Western hemisphere, are either northern America or Southern America countries. I ignored it for some sort of Christian beliefs. That Trump was some amazing person that's gonna save this world. We're gathering to the fact that they're supporting a man who is allowing human trafficking to send people to places that they might not even be from regardless of any time or stature regarding their rights to a free day and trial in our courts of America, because they are being taken without their permission. Then we took the tour now. The tour is led by some j1 who have obviously been trained to do the tour the way they want the tour done instead of referring to the history of the people that use the caves as native Americans, they were referred to as Indians as we all know, Indians live in India in Southeast Asia, not in. America, those are native Americans. After the tour we went out to dinner and came home and played.Putt putt golf which the nine hold course they provided was very adequate and enjoyable. Upon completing our putt putt, we went to our room to take showers upon that time. My wife pulled the curtain back to wash my back while I was in the shower and a used razor that was left on the shelf was dropped onto the floor of the tub. And I almost stepped on ithe unbelievable dangers of that could pursue were beside me. I could have contracted hepatitis c or a large variety of bloodborne illnesses that are not killed by oxygen. Unfortunately at this point, the gift shop was closed and there was no way to contact someone directly. So I thought I would wait until the morning to talk to the proper people in charge. The next morning the owner janet was out on the deck and I took the time to explain to her what had happened with the razor that had been left in my bathroom shower. It was drastically laughed off as a fluke to the point that her housekeeping staff had merely just forgotten it.And yet no apology was given whatsoever. That being said my wife and I packed her things up rapidly and left as quick as possible.Needing to make a bowl movement. We decide to stop back there and give them what they gave us when we arrived. The woman who was handling the registration and the appointments for said cabins. And hotel rooms was at her desk. At this. Point we decided to talk to her to see if she would have more consolation or care given to the point of us being in danger by a used razor on the floor of our bathroom shower. Along with the first time, we were not greeted with any apologies.Only a suffering.Oh well, we'll see what our staff can do.Sometimes they miss things.

Enclosing, if you are a person who needs wheelchair access, don't worry. No of the hotel rooms are available to you. You must purchase a higher price cabin. Farther down the road. If you happen to have medically needed pet companion, they will not be available for the tour unless you can carry them. I have to be honest. I don't understand all these people have gotten away with such health risks and the drastic abandonment of the American disabilities act. Please don't recommend this place to anyone else. If you happen to be a manager, the owner. Or the retail lady that understands what's going on here? And you remember who I am? My name is Brian cannon and I would be drastically thankful for refund considering. I never even got an apology for the Hepatitis ranked razor I almost stepped in in...

Well let's start with the positives shall we. Cabins are nice, clean, comfortable. Each looks to be identical in layout. Front porch with bench to sit on, small BBQ out front of each cabin. Walk in the door and on your left is a kitchen with full fridge, electric 4 burner stove and oven, microwave, sink, and enough cooking utensils to get you by. On the right is the wood burning fireplace, with a love seat and matching chair. There is cable TV hooked up. Next is the bathroom, clean and stocked with some soap and towels, shower stall, sink, and of course the toilet. Then the 2 person heart shaped tub and last the bed, queen sized with nice soft sheets(my wife only buys the expensive high thread count sheets and said these are very comfortable) , 4 pillows, and a quilt blanket, along with a second quilt blanket folded up. Small chest of drawers and some hangers if needed. There is a door between the tub and bed area leading to a small porch area in back. This can look over the small stream that is separate from the main river if the cabin is facing the right way. Quite a nice view from the one i stayed in. The fireplace is quite nice, even has the heat blower system which can be turned on using a switch next to the fireplace.

Price wise, i would say it's around average for similar places around WV and PA.

Some nit picks, or negatives, depending on you point of view. The ac/heater unit under one of the front windows in the living room type area, for heat it can be quite loud on and off. It kicks in to heat and gets up there in noise a bit, then goes into just a circulate air mode. Next is the shower, the shower head is of course just the cheapo single mode head, which would be fine except for the extreme water pressure it puts out. An water saving 1 to 3 mode cheap shower head would work well in this case, as it would lower the water pressure... Which leads to the next issue, the hot water tank. It runs out pretty quickly. So a shower needs to be double quick in the winter time. Again with a water saving shower head this would become much less of an issue.

So now we get to the tub, "jacuzzi". Yes it is a nice shape, great for couples. However even following the provided instructions on the wall, it can be a bit of a let down quick. The system uses straight air blower, which is located in the kitchen actually, this runs air via a pvc pipe over to the tub... On the other side of the cabin. So by time it hits the tub it is rather cold. While sitting in a nice hot tub, you get extremely cold air flowing on to you, which also cools the water rather fast. Along with the short supply on the water heater, it's a bit of a let down. A proper water jet style jacuzzi tub would have been a much better choice when building these cabins.

WiFi in my cabin was near non existent, and it's located directly behind the main building/owners home. Thankfully I get a great tmobile signal here, so not much of an issue.

Last thing, not really sure why or where they come from, but seems they have issue here with flies, like regular house flies. We had maybe 4 or 5 in the cabin. There is a fly swatted hanging on the wall, along with one of those automated sprayers that normally puffs some nice scent in the air, but has a fly and other insect killer/repellant in it instead. Like is said, don't know why, cabins are spotlessly clean, nothing around that should attract them, perhaps the river, or something... Shrug.

Over all, a nice place, but with some quirks and possible let downs. I would recommend this place, but disclaimer it with the above information as some might now care about those things.

To the owners i would certainly suggest replacing the shower heads. Use the high efficiency heads that will lower the water coming out, extra spray settings would be a bonus. It would make the showers much more pleasant, and would certainly save you money on water usage in even a short period of time. Along with the hot water going a good bit further when...

This is going to be a long review just to paint the picture. When we arrived we followed the signs to check in. The woman that checked us in acted like we were a bother at first but became helpful in the end. We go to our room which is adjacent from the gift shop. Checking the room out we noticed there was no control for the air conditioning. The room was sort of cool but likely because it was cool the day we checked in. Went to the bathroom to take a shower and the door handle was all but falling off. The water pressure from the showerhead was pretty much non existent. We had our kids with us and they were excited for our stay and played a bit, which is possible they might have been a little loud. Went to bed around midnight and you could hear every car that drove by. The walls are so paper thin that we heard one of our neighbors TV word for word. Got up in the morning to say something about the room and it was also noticed at that time, one of the sheet sets had a stain on it. Went into the gift shop and got a delicious ice coffee from a very nice fella that was working there. Went to the desk to mention the things about the room and to purchase a gem bag and round of put put. I spoke with an older woman and once I started to tell her stuff about the room she IMMEDIATELY got defensive and nasty. She told me they had to some.ppl next to us to a cabin because we were too loud. I told her no one had said anything. She then told me "well what do you want me to do?! I've never had any complaints and I rent the room out all the time. Someone complained about you and now you're here complaining. I can't make everyone happy." I just stopped talking because I could not believe how she was acting. She calmed down after I told her we wanted to purchase something and then she offered a fan to be brought to the room and someone was going to fix the other issues. A fan was brought and, new sheets, and the handle was fixed as much as it could be. For such a huge place the owner sure is cheap and gets mad when someone has something to say. The curtains were not black out and with the sun hitting the cabins all day it gets very warm and very bright pretty early. During the hot months the fans should automatically be offered, or maybe the owner should do some upgrades to at least put in black out curtains and/or have better insulating windows. Reading other reviews it seems as if other people complained about the rooms as well so we weren't the only ones even though that's what the owner said. Oh by the way, the OWNER is the one that was VERY nasty and rude. The other staff was nice and friendly. Either way, we wont stay here again and recommend people to go into Petersburg which is a short drive away and plenty of...
