day15 (02AUG2024) sanctuary28: the trail along the wetland near parking could be anywhere in massachusetts. the trail further ahead along rutland brook is unique, winding along the top of the riverbank, the stream-bed bright green with moss, the forest shady and cool. astro's pebble is a fair sized boulder, perhaps 6' tall. there's alot of nature here, red in tooth and claw.

There was a LOT of wildlife and wild flowers. This place is quiet and beautiful. The trail has a few ponds and a brook in just a couple mile hike. I'll definitely be back!

Lots of varying terrain, great scenery. Another summer Sunday afternoon (July 2024). in the woods. I parked at the area on Allen Camp Road, then hiked the following trails - John Woolsey, Rutland Brook Loop, Ridge, Sherman Hill Loop, House Pond, Rutland Brook back to John Woolsey. Flies were annoying but not biting (guess my spraying kinda works ?), saw plenty of tiny toads and believe I heard (but didn’t see) a few snakes. This site marks my 30th Mass Audubon location (almost half way mark state wide) and only 1 left to do...

Beautiful area, can't bring your dog to this section, but the hiking and trails are worth it. More signage needed as I got lost at one point. Definitely take pics of the trail map as not to get turned around......
