There is a tremendous variety of trails at this park area of South Mountain Park. Lots of parking for most days, sometimes a short wait on school holidays and spring weekends. There are trail markers and a map sign for easy navigation. We enjoy Marcos de Niza, Ridge and Morman trails.

The temperature is a lot cooler through the wash. Use it to avoid traffic and mountain bikers. Make sure you stop, study, and breathe in the petroglyphs.

Beautiful desert walk. Pima Wash is just that, a wash so the terrain was sandy and flat. Some boulders to traverse over but a nice, easy hike.

I myself really enjoy this area, Trail, Wash. Foottraffic is very heavy, if you plan ongoing early..go even earlier, parking fills in minutes when gate opens, with even..geez like 60-100+ parking spaces it fills, usually a line down the street prior to even opening. Would be nice if the regulars could park in the neighborhood next door and let some new people in . Scenery is great, some wildlife, this trail links up to a handful of others so you have options...

Take the Pima Wash Trail from 4500 East Pima Canyon Road, 85044 Entrance: Start at the Parking Lot and take Pima Wash up to the Hidden Valley / Natural Tunnel. On the way back, you can take the National Trail (if you miss unleashed dogs and rude mountain bikers) or, you can take Midlife Crisis to Scott Ridge and Marco De Niza back. Great 18k step hike for people who want to "mix it up"; technical stairmaster, hand-to-hand and...

This is an easy trail, I am happy because I was looking for National trail tunnel but on the way I found this beautiful house that has a lot of windows where you can see the city view. Its similar to the dobbins lookout. I found severals squirrels and lizards. South Mountain has many trails and pima is...
