Amazing view and completely worth the drive. Takes about 1 hour each way to go up and down. Entered at the Foothills Trail Access A4 at 525 Moorefield Memorial Hwy. Stay right to go up horse pasture road. Certain parts of the drive are extremely steep, but not overly difficult. You definitely want a vehicle with good road clearance, even though I did see someone with a Nissan Sentra up there. Do not trust Google to get you down the mountain if you plan on trying to go down a different way then you came up. I did and ended up driving 20 minutes before getting to a closed private gate and had to turn around and go a different way. The other entrance at 1345 Cleo Chapman Hwy is seasonal and not open year round, you take shooting tree ridge road to horse pasture road. This route seemed steeper at parts then the Foothills trail entrance, so if your unsure of your ground clearance or driving capabilities I'd recommend the Foothills...

Let's just say we got to the entrance of Jump off the rock. Just so you know if you have any kind of neck or back problems or have a low profile car bald tires or questionable brakes think twice about going there. When you go in it says 15 mph on all roads Well I drive a F150 Super Crew Cab with 4wd and if I would of went faster than 15 you would bounce off the road and down a 100 ft. + embankment. It took 45 min. to go less than 9 miles. After weaving thru miles and miles of twists and turns up and down the mountain sides the road to the rock must of been closed or we missed it. If you plan this trip get a good night sleep pack yourself a lunch fill up the gas tank and make a day of it. You might not want to but it could turn into an all day adventure I would also suggest if you dont have a 4x4 dont go when it has rained or is...

Google Maps really need to update their pictures and description of Horse Pasture Rd. & Old Horse Pasture Rd. * Drivers Please Beware* No less than 10 miles of Horse Pasture/Old Horse Pasture is DIRT AND GRAVEL. * IT IS AN EXTREMELY NARROW WINDY TREACHEROUS ROAD. * I do not recommend driving to the overlook without a vehicle that has good ground clearance. If your vehicle sits low to the ground, you are taking a chance of doing major damage to your vehicle and possibly having an auto accident. Also, if you run into a vehicle going the opposite direction, someone is going to have a nightmare finding space to pull out of the way. The overlook at Jumping Off Rock is nothing short of spectacular! With that being said, the drive in to the overlook and out from the overlook ruined the entire...

So worth the drive!!! There is about a 9 mile drive once you get to the dirt road, that took about an hour. We didn't have a SUV as other reviews had stated to use. ATVs are another way to go too. We have a 2012 V6 minivan, and although it was quite hard getting there as there was a lot of twists and turns, it is still doable, and the view on top was simply amaaaazing! My only regret was not getting there early, as we didn't get there till 4:30pm, because it's a view that I wouldn't mind looking at all day. It's hazy because of the heat and the clouds, but I bet it will be gorgeous in the fall or on a clear sunny day. We saw some campers doing primitive camping going up.
