Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery — Attraction in Pike Township

Such a cool place. They have a nice year-round seating area outside the sale's floor. It has propane heaters and was inviting. The young man that was working the store was very personable and informed about their product offering. The prices are certainly reasonable--sparkling wines at $16 a bottle. They offer a 5% discount on 6 bottles. The overall setting is beautiful, and I'd love to go back in the spring or summer. Their wines are also available at tasting rooms in WalMart stores--both Johnstown and Altoona, and I believe Clearfield. Overall three of six wines I grabbed weren't stellar. The take home message is have a driver and taste before you buy. Their wines have a seemingly limestone/minerally undertone. That minerally taste in their sauvignon blanc and white diamonds was overpowering. The vidal is a better choice with a nicer tart/sweet balance and a less noticable mineral taste. I visited your outlet at the WalMart in Altoona. The sales person was a gem. I personally do not like wine but my husband and my girlfriend does so I am always just checking out new types and flavors for them. I was explaining this to the salesclerk and she suggested I try you razMtaz. OMG it is wonderful. I truly am only a beer drinker. I am really glad I live in Shippensburg PA or I would be at Walmart once a week buying wine. My husband and I love it and when I visit Altoona I will buy more. It was wonderful! A beautiful place to hold any event! Covered roof/ awning, plenty of space for guests to be seated and setup space outside for drinks, gift table and whatever else you want to put outside! Inside air conditioned, and places for food and dessert! Public bathroom inside as well! Don't forget it is a winery!!! Lots of wines to choose from too! As well as other items to purchase!
