Pyramid State Recreation Area — Attraction in Pinckneyville

Great place to take the family. Good fishing in certain areas. Watch out for courgars if you go off road way back at one of the lakes. Camping there isn't to bad I've only done an over night a few times. Had out houses in different places but just like the old days gotta check before you sit. Unfortunately the state of Illinois devotes the majority of tax dollars to Chicago and metropolitan areas leaving minimum funding for parks in southern Illinois! Pyramid Park is grown up with brush and weeds, roads are rough, and much of the park is closed for part of each year. Honestly very very disappointed with the park the last couple years. Duck hunting wise, I wouldn’t waste my time out here unless you have a boat.. the land management is very poor and everything is turning to absolute garbage. While there are few good employees out there, whoever is in charge of maintaining land needs to be replaced... it’s very sad to see such a beautiful place wasted and destroyed..... such a waste of tax...
