Very Beautiful stations of the cross or the way of sorrow Everyone thinks it’s a Catholic thing. But Jesus Christ walked those steps for everyone one of us. Yes the high mass churches hold those stations in their hearts more than most because that’s the suffering Jesus Christ endured to give us salvation. That's a big Mary! This shrine is huge. The sculpture is 30 feet (5 stories) high, and weighs 180 tons. Erected in 1998, by Ted and Marjorie Trefren this Shrine greets Interstate travelers along I-80. Robert Fida was commissioned to design and sculpt Our Lady of Peace Shrine. I enjoyed my visit and said a prayer for safe travels. There is also a small collection of other statues and a stations of the cross. Driven by many times. Last night I was getting drowsy & dangerous so I pulled the truck over at the 1st exit I came to. When I woke I stepped outside, looked around, and saw Our Lady. I have always wanted to check out the shrine. I walked over (I need the exercise), prayed a rosary on my walk over. What a beautiful way to honor Jesus' mom. Thank you whoever created this.
