We love Jeter! The reasons are too many to relay in a simple review. Christie Jeter and her team are so incredibly invested in our kids. My daughter was in her first show there at age 10 and was hooked! She is 15 and has now been in almost 20 shows.
JBT is great for kids who are new to acting and singing. I've watched Christie take the shyest child and put them in a lead role, and they thrive! She is so savvy at teasing out hidden strengths and helping kids to overcome any obstacles to become comfortable on stage. I've watched many grow into confident performers because of the nurturing they've received. She's equally skilled at taking the kid who LOVES being the center of attention and showing them that EVERY role is pivotal to the show's success. My daughter has embraced her ensemble roles as much as her leads. JBT and the JBTeam are great for those more serious about musical theater as well. The opportunities my daughter has had because of Christie her incredible team have been life changing. From service as a camp counselor to national/international experiences in New York and abroad, my girl has grown incredibly as a young performer and person.
I'd urge anyone thinking about an acting school for their child to come to a show. Look at the kids' faces (and their parents) when they're on that stage and the sheer joy they exude. I promise you'll leave amazed, entertained...
Read moreMy now 15-year-old daughter has been involved on the competition team and has done 2-3 musicals a year since she’s been 8. Since she’s been 9, she’s had leads or featured roles, but the majority of her actual training came from OTHER theater schools in the area and community theater performances. She was forced to quit those if she wanted to participate on the team. This limited her opportunities to grow, and she is way past Jr. versions of musicals. Also, the owner talks/gossips about students WITH other students and slanders her students. There are better schools in the area, so check those out. Keep the drama on...
Read moreI've watched so many people come and go from JBT, but the one thing that always remains is Mrs. Jeter's passion for the arts and the hope she gives to all her students, especially right now, in the midst of a pandemic. Mrs. Jeter gives me hope that theater will survive. The studio has adapted to all the new protocols and I feel safe when I am there. Right now, I think that's more important than anything else. When you're at Jeter Backyard Theater, you feel loved. You feel the kindness and compassion....
