We never visit the pittsburgh area while looking for peace in nature, but I'm so glad we decided to try it out and visit. This was our second stop of the day and we absolutely loved it. I could have laid on the little dock by the pond all day. We have a monarch waystation at home and were happy to see one here but also a free little library. This place is perfect for not only kids but adults alike. I can't wait to visit again in the spring and summer if winter time was this magical!!!

The nature center is awesome. Be sure to check out the pond area, there are trails that circle the small pond in a couple of docks. You can see fish, frogs and turtles in the summer. Across the street from the barn is the braille trail. It is a short trail that loops around from the small parking lot. There are lots of small markers and QR coded markers on the trail. The trail is absolutely wonderful for small children.

Loved the trails off of this cute and educational little nature center! We did a bit of hiking though they were short trails and found the scannable QR codes along the nature trail to be really cool! If you scan these codes it takes you to short educational videos on YouTube made by the nature center with really good info. Highly recommend this place for an afternoon out in nature just a short drive from Pittsburgh.

I took my boyfriend there in August for a little birthday picnic and it was perfect. It's not to busy, so you can really hear the sounds of nature. It was so peaceful my boyfriend and I actually fell asleep for a little bit. The little trails there reminded me of the book "the secret garden". If you can go when the flowers are in bloom on the trails it's so worth it. It looks like the center is used for girl scout gatherings so there are a lot of cute projects they have completed around the center. I also love the little information plaques you com across on the trails. The trailer are easy with only slight hills which is good for beginners. They did have a Porta potty and it is not too gross. All in all a great time and...

My boyfriend and I were here the other day with our service dog attempting to have a nice little picnic, but within not even 10 minutes of us walking on the trail to find a spot we realized the entire place is INFESTED with ticks. Our dog had hundreds on her and we both had a bunch on us as well. I feel as though a place like this should be treated especially if it's open to children and other dogs as well. I highly advise that you avoid this place until the county actually does something about it. It's unacceptable in my eyes. All parks and areas like that should be treated either way especially knowing how bad tick season in PA can be. Truly not happy with our experience and our poor...
