My family and I visited the Gone Wild Safari this afternoon. Our toddler had a great time petting the bunnies. When he was done, we saw a large group gathered around the porcupine pen, so we went over to see what was going on.
A teen had hopped the fence and was chasing a porcupine around and kicking it so he could pluck some quills.
Susan asked if he worked there and he said yes. We didn't believe him, so we went to the office and told them what happened. They seemed concerned and asked us who it was.
Fortunately, he was walking by the door at the time and we pointed him out to the lady. She went outside and said something to him at which point he came over to us, the staff member still present, and started arguing about it.
He threatened to beat us up with my toddler standing there, at which point another staff member told US to leave! He said that he lived there and that we couldn't do anything about it. It turned out that he actually was a staff member, which was shocking.
Needless to say, we will NOT be going back again! Even if it's somehow okay to kick at a porcupine and pluck it, there's NO way to justify threatening customers with violence and kicking them out for simply expressing concern about an animal!
It was absolutely terrible and very bizarre...
Read moreThis was better than a regular zoo in my opinion. The animals look well taken care of, they are friendly, seem happy and very curious lol. My kids age 4 and 1 had a blast. I thought my 1 yo would be scared and cry but I think we may have a little veterinarian on our hands lol. She was petting the animals even the big intimidating ones like the camels 🐫. One camels stuck his head in the truck all the way to the middle console where she was sitting and hi/she put his/her head against my daughters n she closed her eyes n made a cute humming noise and the camels closed its eyes too!! I couldn't stop giggling it was so cute.
Make sure u hade some of the feed from the camels because they will take your cups right out your hand or vehicle. Once your round about drive is over u can park and get out and walk around and pet the other animals like the goats, hogs, cows n bunnies. In the gift shop you can buy the kids toys and look at the birds and reptiles. This was a awesome experience and the scenery is so beautiful. I will have to take some screen shots of the videos I took. Sorry I only have one picture. I'll...
Read moreWe visited with my son’s school, Grayson Elm, several weeks ago for the first time. We had an ABSOLUTE BLAST!!! The camels could get a tad bit aggressive and take the cups of feed but most of the other animals were just letting us dump our feed in to their mouths, esp one REAL weird cow who was doing some FUNKY stuff with his tongue 😂🫣🥴 10/10 RECOMMENDED!! We will be visiting again with all of our own family for my daughter’s bday. My niece & mil even asked the owners if they wanted some ducks of theirs; and they were able to take them & give them a life of luxury on all the land they have!! LOTS of cool animals to see, feed, and pet! Park to play at, gift shop, HUGE cooled indoor spaces with bathrooms, concession stand had a decent variety of snacks & treats and weren’t overpriced too! Def will be one of our new favorite places to bring the kids!!! Also want to give a shoutout to the sweet girl who was driving our bus the day of our trip! She was awesome! And made sure all the kids had plenty of fun and chances to feed all...
