My son and I are experienced riders. We have logged thousands of miles on many trail systems . Hatfield McCoy is not a trail system for inexperienced riders. If your intention is to ride through the system in it's entirety, be prepared for some rugged and challenging terrain. Winches , tow straps , four wheel drive and skills are a must on the tough trails. Don't underestimate these trails and don't overestimate your skills, or you will be sadly disappointed. That being said, it's a beautiful trail system for a properly prepared rider, on a good machine with ample skills. We thoroughly enjoyed our rides.

These trails were very exciting. The second day we rode there we spotted five deer in three different locations. There were some technical sections on the green trails due to heavy rains that made them a little bit of a challenge. They are well visited but not crowded. At least not during the week. I would have enjoyed them better if some of the views had been opened but due to the coverage of the leaves on the trees you couldn't see much. In early spring and late fall these should be really wonderful to ride.

Most trails are very wide which is nice compared to the other trails. If you're using Google maps and coming from the Gilbert area, just ignore Google when it tells you to turn up Indian creek road and keep trucking up 97. That road was way too small to tow a trailer. Hardly any service for Verizon customers I got one bar on trail 19 and 11.

Our second stop on the trail system and got there right after the office closed but they unlocked and gave us a map. The parking lot was very well maintained. We found some very nice focal points along the trails and the were nice and wide and well maintained also. Our trip was cut short by bad storm moving in unfortunately so we only got a couple hours of riding in. We found a nice Cafe to eat at after just Down the road. If your not from the area be patient driving there as it mostly hills, twist and turns on narrow roads Another great...
