Read moreOn Saturday 8/30/19 1900 Hrs Ebenezer boat ramp docking to retrieve boat rubbed on pads fixed to dock only to gouge side of boat due to dock pad fasteners improperly installed on the state maintained dock rub rails. This caused significant damage to my vessel to the tune of $1500.00. After examining the remaining docks found all had the same issue of fasteners projecting beyond the rub rails that are supposed to protect the vessels not inflict damage. They stated " this is a state park system dock and boaters can use at their own risk". The park ranger was polite but did not accept responsibility or offer any solution to my concerns. I find culpable negligence on the state park and they should compensate accordingly for this damage due to their neglect. Now that being said on Sunday 9/1/19 we launched after dealing with the circus at the boat ramp we had to deal with quite a few rude ramp users to add to the chaos. There needs to be a ranger at the ramp to monitor proper use and make sure the dummies do not hurt themselves or others not to mention possible property damage private or state. I am sure the $7.00 they charge to use the ramp could be used to maintain the docks properly and have an official there to control the chaos. This should be a priority to maintain a good experience at Lake Jordan. Thank you for your consideration in...
Read moreJordan Lake is a excellent park to explore. There's alot of different access points, but a lesser known one is the New Hope Overlook and it's amazing. It's pretty much the southern most access point and you get to by heading south at Wilsonville / HWY 64.
Drive all the way in and you'll find a small lot near the restrooms. If you want a great walk / hike in the woods with wonderful views of the lake in spots, this is for you. You enter the trail to the left of the parking lot. You'll have two options... a hike of about 2.5 miles and an extension to that were you go hike that will give you a full 5 mile trek. Be sure to stop at the places that rub along the edge of the lake and don't be afraid to leave the trail to explore the shore. It's gorgeous.
Tip for people not use to hiking this area... if you don't like the occasional cobweb, carry a stick or arrive after you're sure someone else has probably been...
