Parkers Creek Picnic Shelters — Attraction in Pittsboro

The area itself is nice and very pretty. Cheap entertainment. $7 per car to swim. That's an amazing deal to take the kids to burn serious energy swimming. Problem is - it's self regulated so folks are just everywhere and rather disrespectful of others. People leave dirty diapers by the lakeside. That's disgusting. Teens splash so hard with no respect of little ones near by. Trash left on beach area. If lifeguards were on duty, I'd suspect these issues would be corrected. Our experience was wonderful at Parkers Creek. There are several shelters of various sizes. The shelter we used had 4 picnic tables, 2 trash cans, and a grill. There are restrooms, basketball courts, a playground and swimming area here. It is the smaller beach but the bottom of the lake within the swimming area is nice (not slimey or gross). When I called the office to verify if the shelter was available I spoke with Mary who was extremely helpful and kind, also the attendant at the entrance can also inform you which shelters are spoken for.
