Another of the fabulous Connecticut lakes. Number one is the largest. Over 16 miles in circumference, it is over 3000 acres. Maximum depth is 161 feet. Great fishing with landlocked salmon and lake trout in abundance, if you know how to fish for them. Can be windy and rough, but on this day 2-3 mph light winds. Scenery is spectacular with views of mounts in every direction. The rt3 side has a fair amount of development as there are lots of lodges and cabins. On water stay away from most of the smaller inlets. We saw at least three pairs of nesting loons they are very sensitive to intrusion they will often abandon a nest if people get too close. Only downside is that they have allowed jetskies on it. They are noisy and noisome. The riders seem intent on one thing going as fast as possible as close to boaters and shore as possible. They need to be banned inorder to preserve the pristine beauty...
