The train and a few other rides have been painted and look great. But there are a few others that are looking pretty shabby and scary. We went on the 4th of July during the festivities and 3 out of the 7 rides were closed for maintance... Oddly enough the rides that were closed were the few that have been remodeled besides the train that were for toddler aged children.
The train had a schedule that it ran every 20min...why and who is going to wait that long in the heat and with kids to ride once around? We waited for a few until we saw the schedule and even the time had passed while the worker was running another ride. Sad that they didn't have staffing for one of their busiest days. We bought a pass for $12 and were unable to use any due to the toddler rides being closed. Our 3yr olds were so excited to ride the train since they love trains. Sad we had to let them down when we weren't able to wait for 30 some mins. Independence has an amazing train for 0.50 and you ride around the oval twice. Their train runs as long as there are people...
Read moreThis is one of those iconic places from my childhood that I can still share with my children today. Every time we go to Lincoln Park, the YMCA or Pittsburg Aquatic Center the kids ALWAYS want to go to Kiddieland; Even if it's not open they insist on at least walking around and looking at the rides! I'm pretty sure they haven't changed much since it was built in the 50s besides upkeep and fresh paint. As I reach 40 I've started to see the emotional and economic state of the surrounding areas reflected in the customer service and the brightness of the paint jobs on those rides, especially the train, it was the first built after all. Just like this community Kiddieland has been through some tough times and come out shiny and new, undefeated. It really is a symbol of hope 🦸🏼 and Pittsburg's endless determination to keep on going. Never let anyone change you...
Read morethe kiddieland amusement park has been operating for 60 years now. it's been a tradition over the generations in my family for everyone to ride the small train through the park for just as long. it's a blast from the past to see and ride the few rides they have in the park as they are all vintage. a couple of the rides have changed or been eliminated over time, but the ones left are tried and true. during my most recent visit in June 2019, a couple of the rides were broke down including the roller coaster, which is of course my kids' favorite so that was a bummer. the ol' train got a makeover with a new paint job which took a lil bit away from the nostalgia, but looked nice anyways. the biggest let down has been the elimination of the tropical-sno snow cones... we really...
