I have to admit I was hesitant to camp here because it is an ATV Mecca and they are usually noisier campgrounds, the trails are usually rutted up and you don't see much wildlife, however this campground is probably the most beautiful campground that I have stayed in in all the time I've camped and I camp a lot! The staff was beyond helpful, so pleasant, so willing to ensure that you have the best time possible. The campground is extremely clean and the bathrooms are spotless-- Even the pit toilets are unbelievably clean! They take such pride in their Park. I did stay for a full week and it was really quiet at the beginning of the week. More traffic did come in Thursday, Friday and the boat launch area did get busy then. However, the campground still remained quiet and everybody seemed respectful. There was so much to do and so much to see in this beautiful area of the state. As much as I don't want to give this best kept secret away, I have to admit that this campground is spectacular. If you're coming in a larger RV or with a trailer, you want to stay on the main road almost all the way until you see the brown campground marker sign directing you in towards the campground. GPS will divert you to some rough, rutted dirt side roads to access. If you're unsure, call the campground office. They will direct you to this...
Read moreWe spent a week at this camp ground and it was absolutely beautiful. So peaceful the people working there didn't bother you at all there's a country store 5 minutes down the road the trails around the lake were very nice. Bathrooms and showers were spotless if your camping in a tent thats definitely a plus! Plenty of firewood to gather on the trails from fallen trees only and some are even already cut with a chainsaw so if you bring an ax you should have absolutely no issues finding dry fire wood. We had alcoholic drinks by the fire every single night we were up there didn't get crazy but also had absolutely no issues with rangers harassing us. There is water close to you no matter where you are along with a dumpster. The only down side if i could complain about anything is there wasn't a washer and dryer on the campground but we got by without. Other then that we had an absolutely amazing time and will definitely be back! Make sure if you stay here to go grab a bite at Grampys! Its right down the street from Youngs...
Read moreThis campground is extremely well-kept and has wonderful, clean facilities. Coin-operated showers, coin-operated Clothes Washers/dryer, and a small office where you can buy firewood and plenty of daily essentials (dish soap, laundry detergent, candy, utensils, spatulas, Lake Francis State Park merch, etc.). There is also a dedicated dish washing sink which is free to.use and has hot and cold water. There are also Kayaks and Canoes to rent, which are 15$/hour or $50 for the whole day. The staff, though there aren't many, are very friendly and knowledgeable, and if I had a question it did not go unanswered! On top of all those great things, most of the camp sites have room to park your truck, and if not there is always parking very close by. And the icing on the cake: THE VIEWS! The area is absolutely gorgeous. This was a great romantic weekend for my girlfriend and I and I have to say I would make the 6-hour trek up here again very soon. (P.S.: The water pressure in the showers here is like...
