It's a market with more than just strawberry fields and produce. They sell handmade soaps, custom made earrings, local honey, plants, and so much more.
The petting farm was the highlight for me. It looks like something out of a western movie. It's decorated, but also very functional in sheltering the animals. I spent most of my time feeding the sweetest farm animals ever. They sell $3 bags of pellet feed that basically feeds a wide range of animals, and every single one that I had encountered during that Monday morning visit. All the animals were eating them up like treats. It was such a unique experience. I think they actually loved the attention more than the feed. It was also the first time I've ever met an emu up close. She had a great personality. I didn't realize that there was a large opening in the fence until she started pecking at my feed bag. It was startling, and funny at the same time. I love Chickee Bird!
There are many other sweet animals that you can interact with. There were rabbits, pigs, goats, sheep, miniature donkeys, and chickens. They all deserve a shout out. There was even a buffalo, turkey, and a Longhorn Watusi cow with her calf. You may even see the peacock that roams through the market as you're eating your strawberry treats. It was quite impressive, and practically free. There's no admission for the petting zoo. I think I was there for an hour. I didn't want to leave.
However, it was time to get some tasty treats. They have all the usual strawberry delights. I selected the Strawberry Paradise which is strawberry ice cream twirled with pineapple Dole Whip. It was delicious and refreshing. I really wanted to get the strawberry cookies that I saw on social media, but they were already sold out. I ended up getting the red velvet cookies which were so very good. They also sell hotdogs, pretzels, and boiled peanuts. But, don't get too full. There is also a permanent food truck in front of the market called Taqueria y Pupuseria Salvadoreña. The owner (Maria) sells her famous hot salsa at the market. Just something to think about when deciding on food options.
The people working there are so awesome! They were so happy, friendly, and helpful. It's a family owned market located very close to SR60. Just make that northerly turn onto James L Redman Pkwy. It will be on your right as you head towards Downtown Plant City. I need to go back to try the strawberries, and the shortcake. They own the huge field behind the market, so you now it has to be good. It's just a great family fun...
Read moreWhen on a random weekday afternoon casually passing buy from city A to city B I decided to stop here for what I thought would be a quick farmers market run to cross out a couple lines in my grocery list I didn’t expect I would run into something this much out of this world delicious and yet simple!
But the biggest appreciation goes to the heroes who work here. The guy behind the cash register and that lady who works at the cake station. You instantly notice that they have been doing it for a long time, you see right away their dedication, the joy in their eyes and sense of a mission when they serve you the strawberry shortcake with a strawberry smoothie to go with it. Just think, instead of fighting wars or pretending of being important in an office comfortably hidden behind computer screens these people here have decided to give their best to serve you, yes you - the random by-passer, the purest and simplest joy of them all - an out of this world delicious strawberry shortcake making the world a better place one bowl at a time.
It is so important to have a place like this in todays world, a place that reminds you what true values are, a place where a lot of today’s big leaders and others egos alike should be paying a visit to get reminded of what the real values are and what we really can do to make this world...
Read moreI was excited to visit this place with all the great reviews but was left sad for the animals involved. I was looking only for fresh produce but got excited when I heard there were animals. The market is cute and the person at the register was very nice. That is where my positive review ends.
The animals were extremely hot- most of them with no shade. All of their water troughs and bowls were green and murky. The rabbits (whom should have food available 24/7) were lucky if they even had pellets. No hay, nothing comfortable to lay on. One hutch had old paper litter and moldy strawberry tops only.
There were two piglets roaming the field because they were too small to stay in the fence. I hope they don't get hit by a car on the busy road.
I am the first person to support a small family owned business (which this appears to be) but I wouldn't give them my money. Which is sad because the animals will probably be left in worse conditions.
Please take better care of the animals. Start with shaded areas for the large animals and food all day (Timothy Hay at least) for...
