This is a beautiful open space with amazing views. The trailhead is located inside a gated community (Golden Eagle Estates), but all Pleasanton residents and anyone who works in town are granted entry. If you don't live or work in Pleasanton the guard at the gate will let you in the first time and give you the information about how to get a permit. There are lots of trails on the ridge suitable for hiking, biking, and dog walking and there is no fee for admission or parking. A few mountain biking and hiking groups meet up to ride on a regular basis, and there are connecting trails to other trail systems. The park entrance gate opens at 7am during the summer and closes at 6:30pm, and during the winter it's 7am to 5:30pm, but the exit gate is open 24/7. A lot of people enjoy night rides and just so long as you arrive before the entrance closes you can stay late. It's a wonderful place for a leisurely stroll or a hardcore cycling workout, and the view can't be beat. I'd give it six...
