Edit: May 1st: thought taking the kids out after school since it was getting nice out. The park itself is great amazing and kids would rather go there. But God damn, people need to learn how to read or teach their kids how to read. Between people bringing dogs there and kids climbing on top of the slide (FYI there is a sign saying not to) or kids climbing up the slide because they don't want to do it the right way. It's like I don't care if I know you or your kid, myself and my older 2 kids will say something. Also i dont care if anyone likes it or not. We will say something because one your kid can get hurt or they can cause someone else to get hurt. Signs are put up for a reason. That means something happened causing it to be there. Parent better to keep everyone safe. With the dogs not allowed in the park that's because people don't want to pick it up and diseases. Also possible allergies. Like I said amazing park has nothing to do with the park itself. It's just the people I've seen going there not parenting their kids. Please read the signs and not just be going there doing whatever you like just because you think you're better then everyone.
Took all 4 kids there to play while waiting for the husband to get off of work nearby. I wasn’t excepting to have 2 play structures and a splash pad while I got there. The kids had such an amazing time there and were not bored. It was nice going to park and other parents actually talking to one another. Not just sticking their noses up into air. It didn’t bother me one bit that no dogs are allowed there. I can completely understand too. Don’t take it that I don’t like dogs, i do. Have a dog of my own. But there’s places dogs should go and shouldn’t go. Maybe the maintenance just didn’t want to deal with the messes that a lot of people do leave. It’s also like school rules, well where I grew up, dogs weren’t allowed on property due to a security issue. Just keeping everywhere safe is all. If I could I would visit this park...
Read moreSuch a great park. Has a bunch of features including a splash pad, a really nice path/trail, 3 or 4 pavilions, 2 stellar playgrounds (one all wooden, and filled with activities and hiding spots, the other is newer plastic style with the sponge turf. A bit better for older kids but also has a couple ADA features) as well as areas to cook and relax under a canopy of trees. There's also ball fields and a massive toboggan hill. Back to the playgrounds: my littlest is 3 (almost 4). He's a bit agile but not super stable so be sure to watch your younger ones on both play structures. The newer one has ladders that go up to slides maybe 20 feet off the ground. The wood one is a bit easier to let the little ones run around on, but it's also harder to watch them because it's such a complex plays playscape. There is a fence but it's got a few areas motivated ninja toddlers can sneak through. 😃
There are multiple restroom areas, but one by the old playground seems to be locked more often than not. The staff is mostly younger folk. Watch out when they're flying around on their little work cart. 😅 Pavilions are available for rent through the city. Overall one of our favorite parks to go to outside of the city. Be sure to hit up Lee's Famous Chicken down the street if you want to...
Read moreA nice little park with a couple of baseball fields, a small playground and a nice walkable path. The park is best known for the steep slope that makes a great sledding hill in winter. However, this is a popular spot and you can expect the hill to be extremely crowded on most snowy days.
The slope itself needs a good amount of snow to have a smooth run. Otherwise the slope gets packed down and the icy base can be a little uncomfortable. Still a lot of fun especially for slightly older kids (7+) and adults. There is a rope on one side to help people climb back up.
On the day we visited, there were about 150-200 people and when its that busy, you have to be vigilant at the bottom to quickly get out of the way or risk being crashed into from incoming sled.
If you have little ones the you can try the opposite side which has gentler slope and if you start by the baseball field then it is a pretty long run.
Best suggestion is to get there early in the morning before...
