My family and I go camping every year and we try different campsite's. This was the second year here and this year's experience wasn't enjoyable.
Upon check in after driving a car packed full of hyper kids waiting all year long and super excited and happy we made it there with full smile's. I was greeted with rudeness by an older lady. I was giving a hard time about my kitten I had that is barely two months old.
This lady wanted me to show her a rabies shot or to call my vet and prove she has no rabies. Lady you have to go home and rest a bit. Poor kitten can't even scratch the skin never mind break skin. Other than that, every staff and the other older lady I had spoken to was awesome to conversate with.
She was filling me in on the family cabin history when it started and why I couldn't rent one. I am a huge nerd when it comes to history things and I didn't want her to stop talking about it but I felt my time was up and I didn't want to make her uncomfortable.
I didn't think nothing of it because I said to myself, she probably had a long work shift and I have been working since I was 14yrs old and I know how "work" can get, even if you love what you do.
We reach the campsite and we did not like the campsite because we felt like we was surrounded by people. We were in the I campsite. This site would be awesome if we had a group to rent out that island site.
But again we brushed it off, because we wasn't going to let that ruin our trip. Everything was now good, we settled in and then we noticed a strange individual and it gave us an uncomfortable feeling that that person became a distraction and we felt very uneasy.
The following morning I woke up to my tent being broken on both of my entrances in the same spot. I have had that tent for three years and never had a problem. We are still convinced that that strange person with a one person tent who is also camping by themselves with a tarp covering the whole tent, while pointing his chair towards the bathrooms knowing they're are children, women going in and out and showering there.
At one point my son entered the shower stall and as soon as I said I was heading back to camp "mind you I said it out loud so I could be heard" and as soon as I said it that individual looked straight at me, I had my phone camera focused on him because I knew he would react and sure enough caught him looking at me.
Then he proceeded to enter the toilet stall next to the shower that my son was in. In that toilet stall you can clearly see through the cracks into the shower stall and this individual was just sitting there. Oh how do I know because I literally stood in front of his toilet stall and looked in between the cracks my self to see if he was dropping a hot one or being a friggin creep.
So now I had to play guard every time one of my kids went to use the bathroom or shower. This individual was also staring straight in my site and never greeted us even though he was being the awkward one.
My family and I have been camping for 6yrs and never felt so creeped out and uncomfortable as we did this year. We will still be trying out different campsite's in Myles Standish, because we think you have a beautiful park!
What would be awesome if you can see the site before you set-up if the site is not occupied, but we aren't upset with the staff because they're always super nice and helpful.
Don't worry Myles Standish we still love...
Read moreOur site was awesome, thats the only thing I can say was good about this place. When we got there we had to wait in a long line to register, even though we had pre-registered online. There was a sign only one person allowed inside at a time, No one followed that rule except my husband. We got registered then headed off to the campground. There were people cramming 3-4 cars and 3-4 tents into each site, some of the cars they had to park in the road, that made it hard to get around them. The bathrooms were so disgusting, pee on the floors so there was a yellow river to the drain, in every bathroom. There were used tampons in the showers, just so gross.... Some one wrote on the toilet seat with blood. Don't know how many times I found the toilets full and not flushed. The bathroom had only 2 showers for 31 campsites in our loop. The mens bathroom urinals had never been cleaned, they had a inch thick build up of pee under them, just hanging. THE SMELL in both men & woman's bathrooms was horrendous. Ten o'clock was suppose to be the quiet time, NOPE!! Yelling, screaming all hours of the night, we even got to hear a husband and wife have a huge fight. One of the other campers told them to quiet down, and they got yelled at, to, "shut the F**k up". Dogs barking all the time. NO ONE came around to enforce the rules. We go camping to get away, enjoy the quiet and the nature, this was a joke. It was too crowded, filthy, and loud, you'd hardly knew you were in nature. Our back yard is quieter and peaceful. NOTHING is enforced !! The DCR needs to enforce rules (# tents, cars, people in a site, and the noise) . We went down to the lake to go swimming , and when we got there we found out, it was closed because of bacteria, Maybe someone should have told us that, when we made reservations. This is a destination for young people to come and party. Nothing wrong with that, except if you are trying to camp with your family and kids, you expect different than what we got. It was just to much extreme loud music and drunk people wandering around the camping area yelling and being obnoxious, our daughter was confronted by a guy there, who said some pretty bad stuff to her, husband wanted to find him, and put him in his place, we talked him out of it. WE WILL NEVER...
Read moreIf I could rate it a negative I would. This was the worst experience camping I have ever had. They’ve ruined this campground with their rules and restrictions. I had to turn away family and friends, I could not enjoy my birthday with loved ones, I spent more time at headquarters crying than enjoying any part of my stay. Their implementation of these rules have not led to any improvements. The bathrooms are still disgusting and unkept even with no visitors in the park. The showers won’t drain and standing in sewer water trying to bathe. The swimming area has not been improved upon and all they have done is make people never want to camp here again. I grew up camping at this park and I have never been more disgusted with the policies and no valid reason for majority of the restrictive rules in place. They are discriminating against all who are not a nuclear mom, dad, 2 children household. My family would be denied a reservation at this place. My mother and father in-law who live with my sister in-law and 8 year old niece would unable to book a site together based on the current rules. They are denying families access to recreational activities with superficial and discriminating restrictions. If someone I originally paid for to be on my site can’t come, I am unable to have someone else stay with me? If I have paid for 4 adults and they have permission to be there then why are they denied entry? I paid for them to be there. If my 80+ year old grandmother can’t make it but my friend can, then why can’t I change the names of people registered to my site? The amount of time and money wasted trying to follow their rules and still enjoy this trip which was not worth it in the end. I will never stay here again so my childhood memories will have to suffice because they do not want you to be here or enjoy any time here at all. Camping is a group activity so for them to be so limiting in who they allow here, they are taking one of the best and most important parts of the camping experience: togetherness. Their current rules are going be the downfall of the grounds and I hope they learn and take the campers feedback into account! The campers are the ones suffering from...
