It's a little out of the way but it's worth it once you get there. Getting toward the end of apple picking time and apples were on the small side due to lack of rain. Flavor and crispness was still good. Price is better than Lyman's. They were also selling sugar pumpkins at a great price, along with candy apples and cider. Looking forward to next year. Now A New Year: They say a lot can happen in a year and it did. We went to pick apples and noticed that none of the trees were marked. Asked how we can tell what to pick and the gentleman said to just pick one and take a bite and then you'll know the apple. Noticed while we were picking that there were still some peaches on some of the trees. So, besides picking a half bushel of apples I picked the same in peaches. While waiting to pay for our things, we happened to notice the price they were charging for their picked corn - $9 a dozen. I know they're trying to recover from last year but my local farm stand is a lot cheaper. When we got to the registers to pay, our apples (that we picked) were more expensive than the same size bag that they picked by over $6. And the peaches, were the most expensive. They told me that they were no longer picking them so would have to charge me full price. After the time I took to pick them, of course I was going to pay for them. Little did I know it was going to cost me $66. So my grand total for the peaches and apples was almost $100. We have decided that after this year's experience, we will no longer take the trek down to Lapsley for pick your own. It's cheaper to go some...
Read moreWe invited out of state family here to do a fun excursion because Lapsley was highly recommended. We went on Sunday 10/8 and were very disappointed. 💔 It rained the night before so the parking lot was a slick, muddy mess (obviously they can't control the weather). Cars were getting stuck and sliding around to the point that everyone was needing to be pushed and a few even pulled out, with no help or guidance from the orchard crew. On the orchard the bees were extremely aggressive and would follow you. There was no safe place. A member of our party got stung and they had no first aid measures available (couldn't even provide ice). Thank goodness they ended up not being allergic and very happy it was not the 3yr old that got stung. We walked down several rows in the orchard, but the apples were so rotten that all you could smell was vinegar. We found very few worth picking and ended up giving up since some of our party was older and can only walk so much. (They would've pushed forward if we thought we would have good luck elsewhere, but other guests told us they were having the same experience and with the bees we didn't want to risk it. ) Really put a damper on the day, wish they had warned everyone on the event page, so we could've made an informed...
Read moreI have never been disappointed with anything purchased at Lapsley. But my latest over the top scrumptious treats were 2 'small' delectable pies from "Pastries by Joyce". First, the pumpkin pie; not too sweet, just enough spice, creamy decadent perfection in a crust. And thick, I actually measured, 2 1/2" of goodness. My second was an apple pie with a crumb streusel topping. Same thick deliciousness. A tart apple filling with a slightly sweet topping, that complimented each other perfectly. And get this, crispy bottom crust. These little pies are heavy and thick and easily serves 4. Thank You for bringing "Pastries by Joyce" into your lovely business. ...
