Small Mountain, Big Business

What a let down. At the end of the 2021 season I got out for my only day of the year. Bought a lift ticket when the mountain opened, and waited and waited for the lifts to run. Apparently they were broken and would not run that day, but those who showed up were told about every half hour that the lifts were about to run. After four hours of waiting, the mountain closed for the day. I was reluctantly offered a voucher to come back.

When I came back this season, I was told it was peak season and the voucher wasn't redeemable. I can somewhat understand that, so I asked to pay the difference in a non-peak ticket and peak ticket. Nope. Not even second of consideration for that very reasonable request. It was 89$ for a ticket, which was my only option at that moment. I was told I could wait 30 minutes for the half day pricing, which was not only ridiculous in concept but also way overpriced. I continued to explain but there was nothing they would do to work with me. In hindsight the 2021 lift ticket I purchased should have been been reimbursed since the lifts never ran. So I still have this voucher and a really bad impression of the way this small, local mountain does business.

Before leaving this review, I wrote the mountain in hopes that a reasonable person would get involved and make this right - it would have been so easy to do, and so many chances along the way before it came to leaving this unfortunate review. I've still not heard back after five days, but I suspect a marketing professional will offer some spin in response to a...

Sadly, this ski resort has bowed to the town mandate of mask wearing —and in a huge way. S6 actively enforces this inane mandate and they’ll remind you throughout the day over their public address system and if that’s not enough, they’ll remind you with a personal visit by some rather ‘senior’ employees who we witnessed whose approach to mask enforcement was rude, condescending, almost abrasive when explaining said policy to some very respectful teenage boys (yes, they exist) who had just sat down and were trying to get warm and eat and we saw this repeatedly throughout the day.

When one stops to look at the silliness of their family enforcement, which by observation mandates that unless there is a sandwich in front you and your arm is in actual motion eating the sandwich—you’re fine, no mask required but the other 2 people you’re sitting with have to be masked, with anything, like a bandana and we all know how effective bandana’s are at preventing germ spread. Additionally, once the bar area filled up with revelers and drinks were at hand the mandate ended for those folks. I guess the alcohol nearby IS effective at preventing germ spread.

Simply ridiculous.

At the time of our visit, masks requirements are ending and personal freedoms and choice are returning…but NOT here.

The standard reply will be that they care about the health and safely of their patrons, a fine policy for skiing and safety for sure but an absolutely lousy policy for patrons who can decide for themselves what’s appropriate for their own personal health. First time and last time at...

Amazing!! This is such a fun little mountain! Huge variety in the terrain given the size - anyone from a beginner to an advanced skier (or boarder) will be able to find something fun and challenging. The uphill routes are beautiful. The glades are fun. The groomed trails are well done, with fresh corduroy in the morning. The lodge is full of character, offers good seating and food, and has an adorable little bar. Everyone working here was friendly and helpful, from the ticket desk worker, to the woman running the little shop (they had some cute apparel and sick stickers, among other things), to bartender, to the ski patrol. Everyone. One lady even recognized me hours later and asked if I had liked the trail she’d recommended (I did). It is super family-friendly )and for those families with kids who are learning to ski independently, there is one lodge so no one can get really lost!) They work with VT Adaptive, they are respectful of the indigenous community, and they are just all-around inclusive. The prices are extremely reasonable compared to many northeast mountains. I truly cannot say enough good things about this incredible local gem....

What a gem! From the parking lot you get a nice vantage of the front of the mountain. First thing I noticed is although the mountain isn't huge, the steady pitch all the way to the base area, looks to make up for it. The groomers from afar looked delectable and generously steep. The cool cat walk approach from the parking lot got me excited to hit the mountain as it drew nearer. As I got closer it was apparent they put together good, man-made snow conditions for what's been a lousy snowfall year. Not icy, with quality grooming everywhere. The main quad seemed to have the uphill capacity to keep the lines to under a minute wait, even when the parking lot was filled with cars. Can't say that about other resorts. The lodge is cute as heck and clean! Gas fire pits outside, with the wind screens, is a nice touch. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, all the amenities in a small package. 100% recommend to families and to any experienced skiers and riders looking for a relaxed day to stack up some vertical feet. Enjoy!

Saskadena Six (formerly Suicide Six) at 247 Stage Rd in South Pomfet, VT is a little hidden gem. The drive to it is full of gorgeous farms and views and then the ski area itself, tho very small, is welcoming, and the terrain is challenging! We skied here because it’s part of the Indypass family and it’s on the way to my sister’s home. I’m so glad we stopped! The hubs loved the long, top to bottom beginner trail, which has some curves and turns on the way down. I liked the steeper trails. The parking is easy, though watch out for that slippery ice! They didn’t seem to salt or sand the parking area, so it was pretty sketchy, as was the bridge to go up to the lodge. But just be careful and you’ll be fine. We loved the retro feel of the lodge, and are looking forward to going back for a day this winter, as we head north to other larger areas. We love supporting the smaller independent resorts! No matter your ability, check it out!

Great spot, on the Indy Pass. Family friendly with a great,, enclosed magic carpet. The base lodge was fine, tough lines on holiday weekends for food but seriously it's a ski spot so bring your own food (chili was mediocre). The face run on the front is the cool attraction and the wall of history as this was the first place ever to have a tow rope is cool. We had girl scouts selling cookies outside which made our day! It's a small mountain so check out the trail map and realize there is only 1 summit lift. It is a blast for a family and their ski school folks did wonder with my young kids.
