Small Mountain, Big Business
What a let down. At the end of the 2021 season I got out for my only day of the year. Bought a lift ticket when the mountain opened, and waited and waited for the lifts to run. Apparently they were broken and would not run that day, but those who showed up were told about every half hour that the lifts were about to run. After four hours of waiting, the mountain closed for the day. I was reluctantly offered a voucher to come back.
When I came back this season, I was told it was peak season and the voucher wasn't redeemable. I can somewhat understand that, so I asked to pay the difference in a non-peak ticket and peak ticket. Nope. Not even second of consideration for that very reasonable request. It was 89$ for a ticket, which was my only option at that moment. I was told I could wait 30 minutes for the half day pricing, which was not only ridiculous in concept but also way overpriced. I continued to explain but there was nothing they would do to work with me. In hindsight the 2021 lift ticket I purchased should have been been reimbursed since the lifts never ran. So I still have this voucher and a really bad impression of the way this small, local mountain does business.
Before leaving this review, I wrote the mountain in hopes that a reasonable person would get involved and make this right - it would have been so easy to do, and so many chances along the way before it came to leaving this unfortunate review. I've still not heard back after five days, but I suspect a marketing professional will offer some spin in response to a...
Read moreSadly, this ski resort has bowed to the town mandate of mask wearing —and in a huge way. S6 actively enforces this inane mandate and they’ll remind you throughout the day over their public address system and if that’s not enough, they’ll remind you with a personal visit by some rather ‘senior’ employees who we witnessed whose approach to mask enforcement was rude, condescending, almost abrasive when explaining said policy to some very respectful teenage boys (yes, they exist) who had just sat down and were trying to get warm and eat and we saw this repeatedly throughout the day.
When one stops to look at the silliness of their family enforcement, which by observation mandates that unless there is a sandwich in front you and your arm is in actual motion eating the sandwich—you’re fine, no mask required but the other 2 people you’re sitting with have to be masked, with anything, like a bandana and we all know how effective bandana’s are at preventing germ spread. Additionally, once the bar area filled up with revelers and drinks were at hand the mandate ended for those folks. I guess the alcohol nearby IS effective at preventing germ spread.
Simply ridiculous.
At the time of our visit, masks requirements are ending and personal freedoms and choice are returning…but NOT here.
The standard reply will be that they care about the health and safely of their patrons, a fine policy for skiing and safety for sure but an absolutely lousy policy for patrons who can decide for themselves what’s appropriate for their own personal health. First time and last time at...
Read moreAmazing!! This is such a fun little mountain! Huge variety in the terrain given the size - anyone from a beginner to an advanced skier (or boarder) will be able to find something fun and challenging. The uphill routes are beautiful. The glades are fun. The groomed trails are well done, with fresh corduroy in the morning. The lodge is full of character, offers good seating and food, and has an adorable little bar. Everyone working here was friendly and helpful, from the ticket desk worker, to the woman running the little shop (they had some cute apparel and sick stickers, among other things), to bartender, to the ski patrol. Everyone. One lady even recognized me hours later and asked if I had liked the trail she’d recommended (I did). It is super family-friendly )and for those families with kids who are learning to ski independently, there is one lodge so no one can get really lost!) They work with VT Adaptive, they are respectful of the indigenous community, and they are just all-around inclusive. The prices are extremely reasonable compared to many northeast mountains. I truly cannot say enough good things about this incredible local gem....
