This state park is quite rural and even when you get to the entrance, you have to drive over 2 more miles to get to the parking area. At the end of the 2 miles is the larger parking area, straight ahead. That’s where the bathrooms and the dock and the water is located. The dock has a nice railing around it, and has a space for launching paddle boards or kayaks. If drive left at the big parking area you will be at the Piney Bluff Trailhead parking area. There are 4 different trails, and they are very well marked by color. The Green, Red, and Blue trails allow hiking, biking, and equestrian. The Yellow trail only allows hiking. Read moreEnter at 320 Sisco Road in Pomona and follow the paved road to the end. You'll find the trailhead that starts with all four trails and branches into red, yellow, green, and blue. I hiked red, yellow, and green for about 8 miles total. Yellow is for hiking only, and all others are for biking, hiking, and equestrian. Blue will add about 6 or 7 more miles, and all trails are well-blazed.
You'll find some nice pine forest views and the trail is open with few shaded areas. Near the trailhead, around the parking area, you will also find plenty of picnic tables - 10 or so - plus 3 grills for cooking. The views of Dunn's Creek are very nice with birding opportunities and a pier where you may launch a kayak. Highly recommended and I look forward to...

This main entrance leads back to Dunn's Creek where you can do a soft launch for your kayak. The floating docks allow kayak docking and even provides a slip to rest along your journey. The views are spectacular, especially near the water. There are public restrooms available. They have a unique system that is similar to port-a-lets. Be careful not to drop anything, or it's gone for good! There is plenty of parking available and handicap parking available. Out of three visits, I've never had an issue parking and it's never...
