Beautiful, but there are a few pointers you should know before you get here. First of all, there is limited parking, but every time I’ve come here there was definitely a spot for my vehicle. If you have a four-wheel-drive vehicle, you will not be needing to worry because you are bringing your vehicle onto the beach. Be certain that your vehicle can handle the sand, otherwise it could get stuck. There is no place to purchase food, beverages, or use the bathroom, within about 18 miles of the beach. Read moreBoca Chica Beach appears to have no oversight / maintenance. No lifeguards, and each person trusted to pick up after themselves, which of course means that a few people are going to mess things up for everyone else.
In between all the seaweed there's plenty of flattened cheap beer cans and GLASS bottles ( a truck passing behind our spot happened to run over and pop one).
Also note we found jellyfish on the beach so they're in the water as well ( but in the Gulf's defense, that's kind of nature just being nature) so wader beware.
Speaking of the water, murky brown just like the other Gulf waters I've been in
Kinda reminded me a lot of Galveston beaches which have the distinct advantage of not being 6 hours away from where I live.
All in all , not a trip I'd make again. If you're in the area try Isla Blanca beach instead. You gotta pay to park but they have lifeguards and it's...
Read moreDrive on the beach? Our VW hasn’t ever driven on the beach before!! We have been out a few times but recently the path has been cleared so that ALL vehicles can now make it down!!! Can have a fire, use a telescope, watch for sea turtles, mingle with the local dog population (coyotes I think), tons of birds, the pelicans are awesome, surfing here too... gotta get a board... the sunrises are very serendipitous with the SN9 in the landscape and in early morning on the full moon there is such minimal light pollution that you can see the moon as well... The dunes are awesome to hike through and provide a neat private experience!!! The sound of the waves connecting with the shore is an ancient sound I live to experience!!! Super safe here too... the vibes are all rainbows for sure!!! Thanks Boca Chica beach for answering this world weary girls...
