Very disappointing. I had called on Saturday for a private ride as both myself and my significant other are experienced, veteran horse riders. I was contacted by Kim, thinking she is the owner and she stated they could accommodate the private ride for 500.00. She emailed me and confirmed 500.00 for the two of us. We had originally scheduled it for Monday April 15th at 3pm. She emailed later and asked if the ride could be at 2pm instead with a check in time of 1:30pm, I said that was good with us.
We got there and were greeted by a delightful young man. He went and rang up the private ride for 2 and came back with $264.00 and some change. I told him that I was told 500.00. He had only put in an hour ride so he redid it, the register has things calculated. He put in the 1.5 hours for the ride and the register calculated 425.00 for the hour and a half. I paid him 425.00 cash, we then went and signed the kiosk for consents and were walking out for our ride.
This was my birthday present to myself and a bucket list dream. All of a sudden a younger woman stuck her head out of a side window and she told the three of us we needed to come back in the office. We did and she told us to go sit down and was speaking to the young man. She then informed us that the price was 500.00. I was fine with that. She then came back stating the total was now 540.00 and some change. I told her that I agreed to the 500.00 and would be happy to give her the 75.00 remaining to complete the 500.00. She told me no and proceeded to get on her phone with I am thinking Kim. At this point, the two of them decided to forfeit 500.00 for 40.00 as I had stated I agreed to 500.00, not 540.00, since obviously according to their fixed prices they were already charging me 75.00 more than the regular rate. She got off the phone, told me she would refund my 425.00, I said fine. My partner said he would pay the additional 40.00 but these people are beyond rude....totally unprofessional, and that was not what was originally agreed upon. Don't depend on these unprofessional swindlers or you will be very disappointed. Update: Wasn't asking you to swindle the state of Texas, was asking you to stop...
Read moreFirst off I have to say the ride was absolutely phenomenal. It was my dream to be able to ride a horse on the beach. We arrived on time like the email stated. I guess they were ‘waiting’ on a party of 7 that arrived late. So my 9 year old daughter and I were sitting on the horses for at least 15-20 minutes before we left to ride. This was the hardest part. The horse next to me peed, and he/she was clearly trying to avoid standing in it but had nowhere else to go. They were all standing in their own muck. And no, it had not been raining. Several horses kept pawing at the ground like they didn’t want to be there anymore. It was heart breaking. Some horses were even trying to get out of their halters and had to be calmed down because it set the other horses off. I’m not sure if they are struggling to get enough staff members? But the surrounding areas was just kinda junky. It needs to be cleaned up and the inside area is very run down. I truly believe this place has great potential to be more than what it is, but I also know it’s hard to find good workers now days. I’m sure there is more work to be done than they have staff for. Ceiling fans on the ground, junk on the outside of where the horses are, etc… Once we got going though, it was great. I’m sure they deal with people that have never been on a horse and I found myself telling the lady with white pants how to use her reins to stop her horse instead of screaming 🙄🤣 I think it would have been good for them to give a little rundown on how to use your reins to stop a horse and how to get a horse to go if they stop to eat the grass on the way out to the beach. But in all honesty, if I lived here I would come volunteer and help this place out. The guides were great, the ride was great and very memorable. So I don’t want to be a negative Nancy but like I said I feel like this place has even more potential than what it is. If I came back here again I would probably do another ride and pray the group would all be on time. The petting zoo was adorable BTW. What a neat experience for people so see these beautiful animals and be able...
Read moreHuge disappointment. I really wanted to do the zip line but as soon as we walked in and noticed the disheveled and run down state of all the buildings I felt unsafe and began having second thoughts. My boyfriend and I decided to try out the petting zoo instead, and were shocked and disturbed by the whole experience. The main office building is dirty and unkempt. After paying, we were given two old wrinkled nasty paper cups to use for feed that had clearly been reused many times. As we walked towards the barn I thought we were walking into the wrong area at first because there were no lights on inside at all. Inside the dark dusty barn were two small filthy cages. The first cage contained two sad little chickens, and the other held a few depressed peacocks. Both cages were visibly filthy with caked on feces and the smell was horrid. Out back there is a cramped little area to throw feed at the goats and you can't even really pet them. The old wooden boards you have to walk on in that area were actually hazardous and really need to be repaired. We went out to give some feed to the two long horn cattle and those cows were swinging their heads around I almost got hit with the horns in that face and could easily see how someone could get hurt if they aren't paying attention, however there was no warning or staff around to even monitor this area. We walked up to go look at the horses and I was truly shocked and saddened to see multiple emaciated horses with visible rib and hip bones. Leaving this place my boyfriend and I were literally so disturbed we contemplated if the conditions for the animals would be considered animal abuse. We're not from Texas so I'm not sure if laws are different but where we're from, keeping animals like that would be a jailable offense. I hope this place gets shut down. Went in hoping to have a good time and left feeling truly...
