We had both our wedding and reception at Eaglemount Wine & Cider in Port Townsend, WA. The ceremony took place outside behind the building while the reception was indoors.
The venue and land around it was both beautiful and spacious. The wine and cider was delicious and the amount we purchased for guests was almost gone by the end of the night. The owner was very flexible with us on what time we wanted to setup, take down, and everything in between.
I would say the only con about having our wedding here was the communication. The owner, while extremely nice and easy to get along with, wasn't great about responding to emails and was a little too laid back regarding day-of details. For a time, I was communicating mostly through another employee, but was told about two months before the wedding that she didn't work there anymore and basically had to start brand new with the owner as far as details go. Little things like a pre-selected list of ciders was misplaced and we had to choose a list again and not being there in time for pre-arranged meetups was a little aggravating. However, for the extremely reasonable price we paid, I suppose that was a fair balance.
Overall, I would recommend this venue for ceremonies, but would also warn anyone who is involved in planning should be prepared to deal with a very laid back, but also unorganized owner and that you should get EVERYTHING....
Read moreThis place makes great beverages. Where they fall short is in their tasting room where service is glacially slow. I came in for a tasting and waited for more than five minutes before even being acknowledged. Twenty minutes later, still hadn't been served any cider so I decided to just buy three bottles and do my own tasting. Even standing at the bar with three bottles, ready to check out, still can't get service. I don't want to sound like an ugly seattlite here but I just don't have hours to stand around in a tasting room, especially when it isn't even crowded. There were about ten people present. Hire any former bartender and they will manage your tasting bar ten times more effectively. Either that or hire a few more slowpokes to pour next...
Read moreAnother stop on our wine tour last week included Eaglemount winery. They produce some very nice reds and we left with a few bottles of great locally produced wine.
Everyone we met there was friendly and knowledgeable and we had a wonderful time learning about the wines. Looking forward to returning for some more tasting and time on the deck.
It's great to have local wineries that focus on producing good wines. Next up will be tasting some of the ciders.
Oh, don't forget to check out the back of the labels. It's absolutely brilliant and I'd like to see more...
