Gotta's Farm — Attraction in Portland

If you are not from the area, please know that Gottas Farms is the quintessential local farm stand in a small Town you would see in a Hallmark holiday movie. Been going there for 25 years for the usual plants and stuff. Just a feel good local experience in our backyard. We have been ordering our holiday pies there probably for the last decade or more. This is 2020 so things are bound to be different. And it was. We ordered our usual holiday pies early this year for Thanksgiving. Probably back in early October when we picked up pumpkins and mums. Fast forward to 5pm on Thanksgiving eve and through some sort of mixup our two blueberry and chocolate cream pies are not made! Omg! While Jackie says no problem she will make the usual awesome blueberry pies overnight for our turkey day she is out of the chocolate cream so best she can do is Swiss almond chocolate. Oh well that will do. Thanksgiving morning she shows up to the house with the three warm pies AND warm apple cider donuts to boot!

So why all this review just for pies? Because while our Thanksgiving guests always long for the Gottas blueberry pies, we were all treated with one of the best pies we have ever had on Thanksgiving. It was a unanimous unsolicited agreement that while the blueberry pies were the usual good, the Swiss almond chocolate pie was the bomb of the turkey day 2020! Everyone noted that is was the best they ever tasted. And the donuts were awesome as well.

So in a difficult year, Gottas treated us with wholesome local downhome service and the best Thanksgiving pies ever. I don’t think we will be ordering the chocolate cream next year with the blueberry pies. We are smitten with the Swiss almond chocolate pie.

This farm is a true gem - friendly helpful stuff, amazing selection of fruits and vegetables, honey, preserves, pies, apple cider, candles, mums, pumpkins and so much more. It is located a few miles away from downtown Portland and about 10 minutes away from downtown Middletown in a beautiful picturesque area, just around the corner from the Portland fairgrounds. Have found some really great onions there, beautiful and firm, huge butternut squash, gorgeous apples and the prices are a pleasant surprise. They also have pick-your-own-apples in season. Definitely a go-to for fresh produce, so much better than Stop & Shop! Farm is open until...

What a fantastic place for strawberry picking! I've been to a few places and this is now my go-to spot. The field itself has a spectacular view with easy drive-up access. The strawberries were sweet and plentiful without having to sort through a bunch of mushy ones- I've never had such an easy time picking. I called a few pick your own places in central CT and Gotta's had the second lowest price (some of the others were 60 cents more per pound). The girl at the farm stand was super laid back and friendly. Their hours are outstanding remaining open most of the day into the evening. We had ages 2-13 and all had a really great time....
