May 2023: Nancy, one of the employees on site, helped me with booking two tickets to another mansion when my member portal was graying out the date specified. I am very thankful for her help and time.
May 2022: This was my second visit to the Green Animals Topiary Gardens in Portsmouth (pronounced Portsmith), Rhode Island. My first visit was back in late summer 2014 when the pond had friendly and charming frogs that swam up to visitors' hands, kissing them. This time, there were no frogs because they hadn't been brought out to the pond due to the cold weather. The garden is continually changing with the seasons. For spring 2022, there are thousands of tulips in the gardens. In the late summer, berries grow on the vines. This location is hard to access by public transportation. If you have access to a car, that is the best method to visit the gardens. The house was closed when I visited in 2022 and it was as well back in 2014, so that was a disappoinment. I've been to some of the prettiest gardens in the world, including the famous one in British Columbia, and Green Animals ranks as my favorite because you can spend hours here if you desire to do so and arrive early in the day. There is no tour guide who says you have to finish within a set time. Peaceful and colorful. You can get an annual pass and even add a guest option for $100 so you bring a different friend each...

Read moreI'd like to start by saying if I could give more stars, I would. My daughter and I were in Rhode Island and had seen signs for this place and needed to check it out. Upon arrival, the staff was super friendly and helpful. They asked if we had putchased tickets in advance, which we had not. They explained to go in and purchase and then come back out so they could explain the map and how to go through it. The gardens were amazing. There were different areas of the gardens, which were a little like a maze in a good way. There were many different types of flowers and trees to enjoy. The flowers and trees were home for so many bees, moths, butterflies, and birds. My favorite part was the animal topiaries throughout. It was the perfect day weather wise and was such a great experience to enjoy. In the end, there is a home where you can sit on the front porch and overlook the waterviews. I loved this so much and will...
