Colyer Lake — Attraction in Potter Township

i have officially entered my state college hiking era after my advisor gave me a purple lizard map (thank you jason!!) and i decided a lake hike was in order (i was too lazy to go up a hill). the drive there was very scenic and beautiful — i swear this is literally the middle of nowhere and i love that and there was tons of parking! the lake itself is beautiful and people were fishing and kayaking so hopefully i will find someone who is good at kayaking to return with! however on this day i did the trail around the lake which was a perfect distance of around 3 miles through very nice forested areas and the occasional gorgeous view of the lake! i also walked along the dam at one point just for fun. during my stroll there was however a cycling event going on (props to them because that terrain was Not smooth) which did stress me out initially, but all the cyclists were so nice and said thank you to me for letting them pass even though i was literally the one in the way! it honestly made the hike sort of exciting because i had to stay vigilant to not get run over 10/10 pennsylvania...

Be prepared to cross a creek at two different points. If you start counter clockwise, it will be almost at the end of your hike or bike. The creek was kinda high and the stepping stones weren't accessable at the first crossing so we had to backtrack to the parking lot and follow the road to get around the creek. The second set would've been better and we tried but the water was still pretty swift. We ended up just wading through where it wasn't so deep. Found this place while in the area for work. It was beautiful spot with a scenic trail around the lake. The trail was well maintained. Steep in some places. Part of the trail felt like someone's yard, but they had great decorations along the trail. The trail connected to two parking lots on either side of the lake. Plenty of parking in both lots. Lots of fishers so must be a good spot for that. I saw alot of wildlife here as well. The sunset here was amazing. I was really happy I found this spot while I was visiting the area. Highly...
