A Fritomann review. Presque Isle County parks manage 2 lighthouses in this location. The first one you come to is the Old lighthouse. Go inside the keeper's residence and speak to the 'keeper'.. For a few bucks you can climb the tower, which was rebuilt around 70 years ago. The entire lantern room is 'new'. The keeper's residence is a gift shop museum. You can also drive a little way down the lane and see the New Presque Isle Lighthouse and climb the tower there for no additional charge. AND there is a third lighthouse in the park that you can drive up to but you can't go inside. Fritomann recommends you make the trip.

I love the Michigan lighthouses. They are in beautiful places, and they have a story to tell. They are generally staffed by volunteers and are beautifully maintained. This one was previously owned by a private person who used it as a guest house before turning it over to the state. Inside there is period furniture and a small gift shop area. The Keepers had five kids back in the day. They then moved to the New lighthouse down the road and expanded their family to six kids. There’s not a lot of privacy in that little house but I guess they managed! If you like this review, please click on the Helpful button.

My husband and I visited this lighthouse the second Saturday in September. Nice place, quant little shop and house. Beautiful rocky shoreline. Smaller lighthouse with 78 steps to the top, with a chain for a handrail. There is no access to the outside around the lens, but it is still a great view. Pay $6.00 for a climb up both old and new lighthouses. Be sure to keep your receipt.

Old Presque Isle light and keepers house has been a favorite place to visit since I first rolled up on a little Yamaha motorcycle in 1967. At the time F.B. Stebbins owned and restored the lighthouse and rebuilt and restored the light keeper's quarters. The remains of a French 1700's sailing vessel, the Barque Fame, lay on the Lake Huron shore at the site. Mr. Stebbins explained some of the timbers in the light keeper's house was salvaged from the wreck and used in the keeper's house. We were invited to climb the light tower and see the fresnel lens and take in the view of the lake. Mr. Stebbins was very intrigued with 2 young boys who rode their tiny motorcycles all the way from the west side of Detroit to Mackinac and made the stop at the old lighthouse. He invited us to his private home on the grounds to see his collection of maritime relics including a binnacle compass and engine room telegraph from an old lake steamer. Today both old and new Presque Isle lighthouses are Michigan State Park historic sites that are open to the public and well...

It was nice to be able to visit in season..I didn't realize they had a cute museum and gift shop. It was really cool to see the mock ups of house the keepers and their families lived. It is also really nice that if you pay to climb the tower at either of the Presque Isle lighthouses, your receipt/ticket allows you to go to the other lighthouse and climb that as well. It's only $5 for adults and $3 for kids.

I love the giant bell outside of the lighthouse that came in from Lansing. Since this lighthouse is very short, it makes it a very quick climb that isn't too strenuous. The hardest part is the last stretch which is a ladder to the top of the tower. The view her is absolutely gorgeous and if you love rocks, you will love...

Amazing place to visit, and see all the history from years gone by. However if you go to store gift, the are very friendly and have samples of free. They ask if interested then get the product and find you and give you there samples. BUT BEWARE OF THE ICECREAM SHOP.. My wife went to look at menu and steep back a steep to let someone else look and fell straight onto her back because of a steep down less then 3 feet from where you order. The girl in the window didn't even reply after my wife fell. To see if she

was OK. Thanks to the good Samaritan for helping me get her back up to here feet. Got her to the car. To gather her self. Not anyone from icecream shop or store came to see if she...
