First come first serve even in summer..... rare for a campground on the water! Kinda risky though because it is a ways out and you might risk not get a spot considering there are only 28 spots in this park. We arrived on a Thursday evening in mid August and snagged the last available site - #26. The sites themselves are nothing to get excited about, lack privacy, are pretty dusty, and most do not have direct water access. There are bathrooms and a nice boat launch. However the water is a short walk away. We grabbed a cooler and some towels and walked the beach left from the boat launch, past the last of the campsites, and found a long stretch we had nearly to ourselves. Read moreAt the time the lake was dried out, so my family and I walked on it. It was honestly really fun and we had a lot of fun playing in the mud. If you have a metal detector, it's a great idea to bring that with you in the event that you'd like to search for stuff in the lake bed.
