Thank you Rock Creek for your responses in the review section and for offering context. In response to your response from the review by a reviewer named 'Our Events' who spoke about your views on trans, the church being dead, etc. I
I appreciate the intent to welcome all people and engage difficult cultural issues with love and truth. However, that is not what we are called to do. We are called to love and not with a worldly love - with 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. That includes TRUTH. That said, my experience at Rock Creek echoed much of what the original reviewer expressed. The atmosphere did not feel like a reverent place of worship. It felt rushed. It felt anxious and it felt neglectful of the honor and reverence and humilty that one should have before The Lord. The pulpit is no place to play. Sin is no laughing matter. The volume alone—so high that my Apple Watch gave a health warning—was completely unnecessary. I watched as an elderly couple, frail and struggling to walk came in and sat near the front and as a nurse was so concerned for them the entire time. Music should be low enough that we hear our own voices exalting Our Lord, but instead it seems production was the goal as if we can force or produce revival in souls ourselves. That is a work of The Lord. It left me wondering: Who is this church really being designed for?
The Church is called to be a pillar and buttress of truth (1 Timothy 3:15), not a mirror of the world. Turn the lights back on. It is too dark and appealing too much to those who do not even want truth. When we dilute the Word to remain palatable or appeal to cultural trends, we may draw a crowd, but we fail to feed the sheep and soon - it will fall. As Jesus told Peter, “Feed My sheep”—not entertain them, not affirm them in worldly ways, but feed them with the whole counsel of God. Say the words REPENT. Say the words SIN. Say the word CROSS. Love of trans is not just smiling - it is sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ. That's it. That is our only business with darkness. That is our only business with ALL living in sin is to share the hope of CHRIST. Does your church know the gospel?
There’s a difference between being welcoming and being compromising. I left burdened, not because there were unbelievers in the room (praise God if there were!), but because the saints were being starved. If the Church doesn’t preach the Gospel clearly, call sin what it is, and uphold sound doctrine, we leave both the lost and the saved malnourished.
I sincerely pray the leadership will seek the Lord, not just for relevance, but for reverence—and that Rock Creek would return to the simplicity and sufficiency of Christ crucified, risen, and...
Read moreWe have lived in the area for about two years and have been looking for a new church home. After resonating with Rock Creek's core and non-essential beliefs, we decided to give it a try. The service we attended was preached by a guest pastor from Arizona, but I assume that his views align with the leaders of Rock Creek considering they asked him to come preach. Overall we thought the worship was solid, everyone seemed friendly, and we have not experienced such an energetic congregation in a long time. We were initially pretty impressed and excited.
The sermon we heard was based in Nehemiah and preached on the theme of joining in when you see God working around you, told through the lens of the rebuilding of the Wall of Jerusalem. Overall, we enjoyed the message, but the frequency at which the church's building project was mentioned was very off putting. The application of this message that could have had a much more general application of "join in with God when you see him working" with a more subtle reminder of the financial contribution needed to complete the building project, but was extremely pointed toward the money the church needs for their building project. The building project was mentioned multiple times through the message and heavily focused on at the end. At one point the preacher said that if the money is not raised, they may not be able to pay staff. We were honestly shocked that this was even said.
As someone who had not previously attended the church, I felt like we were being pushed for money over and over again. It almost felt like we weren't supposed to be there - like they weren't talking to us. Obviously I understand that some messages are catered to specific people and situations and that everything may not resonate, but as a guest and potential new member we were honestly taken aback at how Scripture was used in this sermon. We are certainly open to trying Rock Creek again and are taking time to listen to other sermons that are posted online, but we did not feel that this experience made us feel strongly about pursuing Rock...
Read moreI recently visited this church and was left with a deepened sadness. For context I am a devoted member of the Catholic Church. Lots of my friends go to this church and asked me to go with them, I was curious in what their church service was like so I gladly excepted. I kept an open mind, and really wanted to hear the pastors message. At first I was definitely a little confused since it was definitely not what I was used to, but I didn’t see anything wrong with it. I believed it was just another church that follows God. I am not one to make fun of, talk bad about, or laugh at another branch of Christianity, or Religion. It is not my job to Judge someone, that is the Lords job. Unfortunately that is not was this church believes. This church believes in making fun of, and saying anyone who believes in another church, or religion is descend to go to Hell. I was baffled. I was ready to walk out of that room. This church talked about how Judaism is a bad religion, and also explained how this is the religion they were discussing this week, and have discussed other religions and churches for the past week. It deeply hurts me to see my friends believe this, and watch the people I love and other children of Christ truly believe that this was okay, and that this is what church is like. Church is a place of love and worship, not a place of hate. I really hope this church can find its way back to God, as well as the people attending it. God bless you all and I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts...
