Perfect place to stand on Golden sands while waiting for your love to roll back on the tide or to relax with the family and friends. The northern area here is Herring Cove and to the south is Race Point beach. Dogs are allowed on the national seashore all year round, crystal clear waters were warm by New England standards in mid July, with only moderate surf. Seals frequent the area so there's always going to be some risk of sharks. I saw a seal today but not a shark. Convenient bathrooms and showers/changing rooms. Parking $25 a day, 60 for the national seashore for the season (beaches from Herring Cove in the North down to Coast Guard Beach in the southeast), 80 for all national parks for the year. There is a bike path that goes from the beach through the dunes to Provincetown.
There is no food concession in 2025, so you will want to pack...

It is officially against national seashore policy, but I'm told that the beach rangers turn a blind eye to it here. If you keep walking to the left of beach (about 10 minutes past the family section), you reach the topless area, followed by the nude area. Whether you choose to wear clothes or not, its a beautiful, outer Cape beach that will offer much peace, solitude, reflection...

If you make a right at the intersection the beach on that side is narrower, but less crowded and you can literally park in front of the beach and set up a few feet in front of your car offering very convenient access to your cooler etc instead of having to cart things back and forth. When the tide is low the water is calm enough for swimming, but can be rougher at high tide. GREAT beach for dogs, mine really enjoyed it. Sand is clean and a thicker grain so it's very easy to wipe off after, instead of the fine grain that sticks to everything. Definitely my favorite...
