Through a military family support group I read that there was a Military Appreciation Breakfast scheduled at the Hidden Hills Ranch during the time I would be visiting my 18 year old Marine son for the first time since he moved to Monterey for a year of training. Not knowing what to expect, I registered the two of us plus my sister, as it said it was for active military, veterans, and their families. What a wonderful experience it was! There were a handful of veterans and quite a lot of active duty service members and their families in attendance. We were blessed with a gorgeous fall day, and there was great music, beautiful friendly farm animals, fresh air, comradery, and a fantastic pancake breakfast. Read moreLovely ranch nestled in the woods, open to the public. They offer horseback riding lessons and homeschool classes. It's a beautifully kept facility with playground and lots of animals to visit and interact with including alpaca, horses, ponies, ducks, geese, donkeys, rabbits, chickens, pigs, sheep and goats. There are probably even more. The stables and animal enclosures are immaculate. The staff is friendly, kind, and patient. Children who visit are treated with kindness and respect.
