For anyone who loves war history and military aircraft, this museum is the best way, hands down, to spend a half-day in Pueblo! Wonderfully curated, this exceptionally well-done museum features two large hangars packed with restored aircraft from all five branches of service (including a large USCG plane), tons of standing cases of assorted war and military memorabilia, and seating areas with TVs looping historical footage relevant to nearby displays. Outside, they have a number of planes on static display, and even a couple of picnic tables among them (my dream picnic - but do call them to verify)! Several friendly, knowledgable docents are available to answer any questions and tell you all you want to know about the aircraft and history. They have a budding space collection that I missed since my husband was on a timeline, so I plan to go back again! The gift shop is wonderful, and I wish I’d had more cash on me - but next time, for sure! We went on a Monday morning when they opened, by the way, and were the only ones there. That meant we could get great pics without other people in them! A HIGHLY...

Read moreWe went to Weisbrod aviation museum, wonderful friendly staff, and an impressive collection of historic aircraft. The low-key docent, Michael Sumida, patiently explained the history, and quietly answered questions about the museum and the aircraft. Only after asking about his own career, did we find out he was an USAF Academy graduate, a Colonel and a Wing Commander of the C-130 fire bombers. He is a very humble and interesting person. He initially mentioned he was part of the Iranian hostage rescue, but I assumed it was part of the massive support effort, and didn’t circle back to ask what his role was on Operation Eagle Claw…..big mistake. After we got home, read an article where it turns out he was a member of a surviving C-130 aircrew in the horrible sandstorm. A missed opportunity to learn about history from one who was actually there. Like Col Sumida, there are many hidden gems in the museum, both aviation and the early space program. just a great place,...
