Gatewood Reservoir — Attraction in Pulaski

Gatewood is a hidden jewel on the top of Mount Olivet in Pulaski. One of the best parts of Gatewood is the "untouched" feel about it. You can truly get the feeling of being in the remote mountains while still being within driving distance of the town. There is a campground with water and power hook ups. and there is a small playground for kids. There are also several remote sites for access by boat. These sites are for more primitive camping, with no water, power, or bathrooms. The campground does have a bathhouse. The lake itself is very calm and the water is very clean. Gas motors are not allowed, because this is a reservoir. There is a ton a wildlife and the fishing is pretty good. The lake is perfect for Kayaking and there are several hiking trails. I'm only giving 3 stars do to the fact that we were in the park a total of less than 10 minutes before a older gentleman told us that the park was closing at sunset and that we would be locked in. Every website says bank fishing is open 24/7 year round, the sign on the door said for after store hours to see camp site 22 for boat rentals so I dont know about that. This is the best place to kayak. It is very calm and there are no big boats with gas motors trying to run you over. Tried fishing here but no luck just yet. I will keep on trying. Hopefully there will never be gas motors ever...
