My husband and I moved in about a year and a half ago and every time people ask us if we would recommend it, I always say no.
Large dogs are allowed and the rent actually is cheaper than most of the complexes in the area. If those two things are important, then move in.
However, there is a long list of issues that we have been dealing with since day one. We specifically asked before applying if the complex was smoke free, we were told that there was no smoking. However, our downstairs neighbor smokes a lot and our clothes and furniture reek and there is nothing we can do about it. The gal who worked with us when we moved in lied to get us to move in, but this IS a smoking complex. So if you don't smoke and DO mind the smell, avoid at this place all costs.
The communication from the office is terrible. They never answer the phone, ever. They never respond to voicemails, ever. They rarely respond to emails. I have multiple emails that I have had to forward to them again just to hear back. If a staff member tells you something on the phone, get it in writing because they will not follow up. The complex is a little older so problems with our appliances/apartment are constantly arising. However, we typically have to contact the office multiple times before we get an answer, and we have been told as many as THREE times that they would send someone, and never did.
Because of their poor communication, we have had to go two weeks without using a sink, and 9 days with a broken fridge.
Parking is terrible, almost all of the parking is covered so you will need to pay 30 dollars a spot. Abandoned vehicles take up the space for the uncovered parking. (Luckily police finally removed some of those) As mentioned earlier, there are large dogs allowed. There is dog poop everywhere and never gets cleaned.
There is only one trash compactor for the entire complex, and it is constantly overflowing. Not to mention that it is on the complete opposite of the second section of the complex so it take a while for us to get to. There is a fenced place for trash in the second complex but no compactor. So it seems they removed it to save money but created an inconvininece for residents.
This is just the beginning of our frustration with this complex. They seriously need to make changes in their office communication and should hold themselves accountable for what they promise to residents at move in.
We are waiting to move out the moment our new home is finished being built and we cannot wait to leave. If we had known what we know now, we would have just gone with the more expensive apartment complexes...
Read moreWe stayed here on a pseudo short term lease in between selling our old house and having our new house built. The living quarters itself we’re adequate. The exterior paint was peeling but we live on the interior so no big deal. The deck needed to be rebuilt but that’s fine too. We weren’t living here forever. The parking was atrocious. The appliances were cheap and needed repair. The dryer was a fire hazard as it got so hot it would literally burn your clothes. They refused to swap it out. Fine. Not here forever. We can deal with it for a bit. We are very clean people. We vacuum and clean weekly. We clean the carpets once a month. How many apartment tenants clean their carpet that often if ever? When we moved out, we throughly cleaned the place and cleaned the carpets one last time. We went as far as to scrub the walls clean and clean the oven, fridge, etc. The apartment was left as good, if not better than, as we found it. You could barely tell anyone lived there. Clean, clean, clean. They kept every dollar of our security deposit. If they kept our deposit, they keep everyone’s deposit. They could not hope for better tenants. When pressed they said they always keep it so they can paint and improve as needed for the next tenant. We were happy to just be done with the place and move into our house so we did not push the issue further though we certainly could have. I’m sure the state attorney general would like to know about their shady business practices. These people are simply thieves. Just know that the up front money you put down at the beginning will never be seen again. No matter the excrement they shovel forth from their mouths, they will not give your deposit back. If you live here, you may as well wreck the place and leave it smoldering. They’ll keep your deposit the same as they did ours so no need to be clean and take care of these hovels. There are much better and more honest apartment complex’s out there. If it costs an extra $100 a month at least you’ll have the peace of mind knowing that the place will most likely not burn down around you when you do a load of laundry. And hey, if you’re clean and responsible, other places will actually return your deposit. Go figure. What a novel concept. After spending the better part of a year here I can confidently recommend to take your money elsewhere. What will follow next in the comments is a what I’m sure will be a very lame, mild mannered and feeble attempt to publicly save face by whoever may be the current management at Riverside Park. They will make excuses and say how great their customer service is, etc....
Read moreI LIVED ABOVE A WOMAN ABUSING HER CHILDREN FOR OVER 2 YEARS. Riverside was notified SEVERAL times by me that my neighbor was an extreme noise ordinance, with extra concern towards the wellbeing of children who were constantly being verbally abused and screamed at underneath me for all hours of the day, every single day. I came down to the office to complain, showing videos exactly like the ones posted here (one is a child screaming histerically while the other is 2 women screaming at each other for ignoring a child and having them eat poison) I was told by the office (EXACT QUOTE) "We can't control how people parent their children." THIS IS NOT PARENTING and NO type of parenting should influence every single neighbors wellbeing in the building. I notified the office I would be calling CPS because my concern for these children became so severe after hearing threats to not feed her children to only hear when I came back to complain a couple weeks later not a SINGLE NOISE COMPLAINT WAS ACTUALLY FILED ON MY BEHALF. I would turn around and leave the office and these secretaries would do NOTHING. The blatant anger I feel towards the office staff for seeing this type of material, knowing I called CPS and they CANNOT EVEN FILE A NOISE COMPLAINT FOR ME. This is the type of behavior that is completely warranted if you live here, absolutely no noise ordinances enforced (unless you call security after 10pm) and your free to abuse your children as long as you like apparently! Glad I moved out finally so I can enjoy sleeping through the night without hearing someone abuse their kids under me. Other issues to be aware of: my rent was raised $400 in 2 years Price of parking spots was increased from $40/45 to $70 meanwhile free spots are a fight and cars are left rotting in spaces for months with tow stickers taking up space. Parking extremely frustrating. ONLY ONE DUMPSTER? Literal 15 minute walk from my unit, was told there would be a second dumpster shortly after moving in (never happened) so trash is a actual field trip from the back units or driving your trash. I hated this place. Do not recommend. Will laugh if I get an auto generated reply because it'll be more action put towards me than when I was actually putting in noise complaints...
