Scenic Overlook of the Columbia River — Attraction in Quincy

The views are astonishing! We were amazed at the vastness! Especially in what appeared to be a desert of hills with no trees. We were driving from east to west. The unexpected pleasure of popping over the mountains and seeing this beautiful reservoir was an awesome surprise! There was no one else there! Everyone just drove by as we soaked it all up for ourselves! The parking was crazy simple, on and off the highway super easy, and the paved trails made it a breeze to get to the view points! Beautiful plaques explained the formations and reservoir. Too bad someone pried one of the informative plaques off and replaced it with graffiti and paint! This is one of the best “rest stops” I got to visit on my way to Washington! They have trails along the mountain that really captures the beauty of the Columbia River! My boyfriend and I stopped just to take a quick picture and enjoy the view; however, we were astonished by the site and had to see more. We started climbing down the side of the mountain to get closer to the river. There are little paths where you can see other people did the same. If you’re not short of breath and enjoy a little climb, I advise you to do the same! The sound of the wind and river were amazing and it was an unexplainable experience. We stopped here because we saw it wasn’t out of our way for our next stop. It was pretty empty which we like because of COVID. The view was very beautiful! We did the very little hike and looked at the signs which are very informative and made it way more interesting. I liked the ones about the highways of the past. Look for it and read it while you’re there! And you can see the old highways when you look down!
