La Vista Rides — Attraction in Río Grande

My wife, my 4 year toddler and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend this horse riding experience when visiting the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. I called Amy a couple of weeks prior, to make sure that she could accommodate my 4 year old daughter, who has not had the experience of horse ride yet. Amy reassured me that she would make sure we would enjoy the experience. We checked in around 1245. Amy sent clear instructions on the location, and Google maps was quite accurate in navigating to the location. She welcomed us and had us visit the horse stable. She has about 7 horses, and the horses are very well taken care of. We got into individual horses with assistance from her staff and clear instructions on how to steer the horse. My 4 year old was very well taken care of and Amy herself guided my daughter's horse throughout the horse ride. We then set over to get down a small hill along her private property. It was about a 15-20 minute descent with some breath-taking view of the El Yunque National forest. Amy has several fruit trees throughout the trail. We then stopped by the river and enjoyed the stream for a good amount of time. It was pristine! We then climbed back on our horses and climbed up the hill with photo stops. I can’t say enough amazing things about La Vista.

We had booked a 2 hour ride for Thursday, but there was a storm and Amy let us reschedule for today, Friday. We then had a number of unplanned challenges Thursday, making us not get back to our vacation rental until almost 2 am. Despite best intentions and setting an alarm, we overslept! We were an hour away from La Vista and it was less than an hour before the tour.

Amy offered to have someone stay and wait for us, even though we were going to be over an hour late. I’ve never seen any operation do that, let alone such a small business. It was above and beyond.

The tour itself was incredible. I’d never really ridden a horse, nevermind ridden one going down a mountain on a muddy rainforest trail! Anya made us feel safe the entire time. Our horses Carolina and Mariposa were febrile, sweet, and endlessly patient, especially with me. The river wasn’t clear as it usually is because of the storm, but it was incredibly refreshing and clean nonetheless.

To top things off, we had accidentally left my flip flops down by the river. Despite the fact that we were over time, Isaac, who is basically a child horse and rainforest whisperer, jumped into action, riding a horse back down to the river, retrieving my flip flops, rinsing them off, and offering to also hose off my feet. All while collecting snails for his terrarium.

My daughter and I had an absolutely special experience at La Vista Rides' Rainforest River Ride! I was partnered with a stunning horse named Pinto, who was the calmest and most gentle companion throughout the journey.

The adventure lasted two hours and was divided into two parts. We began by riding our horses down to the beautiful Rio Grande river, surrounded by the breathtaking views of the El Yunque Rainforest. The scenery was simply enchanting! Once we reached the river, we had the wonderful opportunity to take a refreshing swim, which was the perfect way to cool off.

All the horses were incredibly well-behaved and clearly well-cared for, which made the ride even more enjoyable. The owner, Amy, was a delight! She was not only sweet and practical but also very knowledgeable. Throughout the experience, she shared fascinating information about the area and the horses, enhancing our adventure.

To top it all off, there were friendly dogs around the property, adding to the warm atmosphere. After our ride, Amy graciously invited us to relax in her lovely home and treated us to some delicious fresh fruit.
