I don’t have enough good things to say about my tour with Jan from Paradise Tours Puerto Rico! The owner, Chris, accommodated a very last minute booking for my partner & I which turned out to be the highlight of our trip. We had no rental car and so he arranged for Jan to collect us from an agreed-upon meeting location.

Jan has infectious enthusiasm and was a joy to be around from the moment we met. He learned it was my birthday and sang to me in English and Spanish. He was a patient guide, giving excellent and practical safety instructions (embrace the mud!) but also encouraging us to step out of our comfort zones! He took our photos for us too which was awesome!

For those looking to book, ensure you are in good physical condition as the hiking and climbing part is quite intense, but also know your guide is there to (sometimes quite literally) pull you along with a helping hand. For women, I wore a supportive one-piece swimsuit with 3 inch legging shorts over it and swim shoes, and was really happy with my attire because I was mainly protected from any scrapes on the rocks. I can imagine getting cut up without the bottoms on!

We saw the very best in our tour guide when someone from another tour company was too afraid to continue forward with her group as we were heading back. Without hesitating, he let her join us and helped her back. Helping visitors enjoy their time in his country was clearly Jan’s mission, and helping his other tour guides was part of that. I loved his spirit and kind energy!

The educational component of the tour was perfectly woven in with the adventure, and we walked away feeling like not only had we had a once-in-lifetime experience, but that we had learned in-depth about Puerto Rican culture, nature, and maybe best-of-all, made a friend!

Thank you so much to Jan, Chris, and...

I had a very bad experience with this company. At first I wanted to do the el yunque tour and saw that it was fun then I realized that it was not the official part of the Yunque and was a little dangerous. It was the back way where they avoid the regulations that el yunque provides. When I asked for a refund of my $495 I was told no. I called several times before cancelling to get more explanation and to see if I was able to cancel and I was not able to get in contact with Chris they guy that charged me. When I spoke to the tour guide he then told me that Chris doesn’t even live in Puerto Rico he lives in the Philippines and he must be sleeping but their shouldn’t be a problem cancelling. I then wait and Chris answered like 5 hrs later saying I couldn’t cancel and I couldn’t get a refund, that he could give me a credit. I was leaving the next day and wouldn’t even have the chance to do any other tour. So I was left without $495 and no tour.

First you tell me that you couldn’t answer because you were on a so called “tour” then I find out you were sleeping cause you don’t even live in Puerto Rico. I got your number from a flyer that I saw at a car rental place and messaged you directly. Never once did you send me any documents about cancellation but you were very quick to charge me the $495. You then send me the cancellation policy AFTER the tour was done (what good does that do at that point) I only said I wanted to come back to Puerto Rico never did I say I was coming back THIS YEAR. It seems you find stealing peoples money amusing. Enjoy the $495 you probably need it more than...

We used Paradise Tours for our guided tour through Yunque and our entire family was very glad that we chose this group verses the other tour operators in the area. Paradise tours takes the safety and entertainment of their customers very seriously. Our tour guide, Adriana, was top-notch --friendly, knowledgable, and we appreciated her constant attentiveness. Our tour consisted of our family of five and two other people, which made the experience much more enjoyable than the other groups of 20-30 ppl we passed along the way. It was also obvious that the several of the other groups were not fully prepared. Our tour was after 8 straight days of rain which made several of the paths difficult to cross. Paradise Tours was emphatic that we came prepared with the right shoes and attire and I'm so glad that they did!

This was an experience that my adventurous college-aged boys and ten year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed. Adriana had us follow paths through the river and forest that the other groups did not follow which was great. The river was beautiful and scenic and our family loved traveling through the warm waters. My 19-year-old's favorite part was jumping from the 30ft cliff into the pools near the water slide. I would strongly recommend this tour for those who a physically fit and looking for a fun adventure in...

We had an amazing time on our tour! I went with my sister and it was just the two of us, so we essentially had a private tour. Our guide was Jan and he was friendly and flexible for whatever we wanted to do - for example, he said that we could stay at any location as long as we wanted to and made it clear that we didn’t need to rush back so the tour ended on time. We also went early to avoid crowds, which I appreciated. In terms of incline, the hike was pretty easy, but it did include a lot of maneuvering up slippery rocks and using upper body strength. And you will get MUDDY (like really muddy), but that just adds to the fun of it and there was a stream by the end where you could rinse off all the mud. The info they send prior to the tour is really helpful too. I didn’t bother bringing my phone, but Jan took a lot of photos of us and sent them to us, so I didn’t have to worry about losing it or it getting wet. You will definitely need hiking boots for the hiking portion, but if you have water sandals like Tevas, I recommend bringing them for the swimming portion. I brought mine because they were light weight and I think it made the swimming a lot more comfortable with all the rocks.

First time in Puerto Rico and hiking so I’m glad I booked this tour. Our guide was Amazing! His name was Alex, he was very patient, pleasant and helpful, even telling us where to place your footing while climbing. Our group was small (10 people) which was great because he was able to make sure every one was okay and checked on us. I felt completely safe the whole hike and our group was so supportive of one another, felt very family like. I cannot swim and I was still able to jump off the cliff and participate. They supply life vests that do the job. Alex also took many pictures. I did bring my phone in a waterproof pouch but honestly felt like I didn’t need it. They allow you to place your stuff to the side if you don’t want to get them wet prior to jumping off the cliff and water slide. Please don’t bring sandals! Your whole foot will get submerged in MUD (I’m talking ankle deep). Water shoes and hiking shoes will do. Parking is $3 and someone watches the cars for safety. I recommend the early time as in the afternoon there is other groups of 25 people and so much traffic to get through. All in all this was 10/10, everything went smoothly and I will be booking again in the future!

This tour of the rainforest was truly paradise! Our guide, Alex, was knowledgeable, fun and helpful. The water slide, rope swings and cliff jumps were so fun as was the hike in general. We decided to take the first tour of the day, and I’m so glad we did! We were the second group to arrive and were, fortunately, a small group of just my family of 5 and another couple. Once we got there, a gentleman was selling waterproof phone cases for $5. Totally a must (even though Alex took lots of pics for us) and they work beautifully! Once we’d completed the main parts of the tour and it was time to head back, we choose to head back along/in the river per Alex’s suggestion. This was another adventurous and beautiful part of our tour that not many other do. We also avoided all the incoming tours by taking that route. It gets very busy after the first 8am set of tours and the parking lot was full when we got back to our car so, go early!! Thanks so much Alex and Paradise Tours!!
