Debsconeag Lakes Wilderness Area — Attraction in Rainbow Township

Absolutely no views. No camping allowed despite what reviews say, rangers came and evicted me even though I followed all rules. Very difficult terrain for walking (heavy brush everywhere) and paddling (very swampy, but it’s shallow and rocky). Swampy portages. Cold and wet too. Easy to get lost. Moose here are known to be significantly more aggressive, black bears too. There was a known incident of a black best eating a tourist alive 28 Apr 2003. Just go to Katahdin and Acadia its the only worthwhile...

I was hoping to check out the ice cave, but it was still closed due to ice on the ladder; however, after the hike to the cave, the cool breeze rising up from the cave was well worth it on a hot day. What a beautiful little wilderness area ! My boys came to visit from San Diego and we cold weather camped for 3 days on this awesome free primitive lakeside site.
