Fun park with a lake in a great location! Fish for bass, trout, and crappie or enjoy a picnic! Centralized restrooms and a special area for small children to play and run around. Leisurely stroll around the lake to take in the views of local and migrating wildlife or the snow topped mountains in the distance. There is plenty of room for social distancing and picnic tables throughout the park. There is also a large covered picnic area you can reserve for large gatherings with a big barbecue pit for cooking up some grub. A day use fee is required for all visitors and varies in price depending on your vehicle/vessel (only $5 for cars). The permit is valid for the entire day, and the machine takes cash or credit/debit cards (no coins). Check it out and enjoy your time at the lake!

mather regional park, located just outside of sacramento, california, presents itself as a testament to nature's tenacious spirit. what was once a sprawling air force base has transformed into a tranquil haven for both wildlife and people. the park's vast expanse of open fields and winding trails offers countless opportunities for outdoor activities. whether you're into walking, jogging, or cycling, the well-maintained pathways provide a pleasant workout. one of the most striking features of mather regional park is its commitment to preserving the wetland ecosystems. several wetlands dot the landscape, attracting a diverse array of waterfowl and migratory birds throughout the year. birdwatching is a popular pastime there, with patient observers often rewarded with sightings of herons, egrets, and various types of ducks. the subtle symphony of chirps and calls creates a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere, transporting you far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. the park also boasts a well-utilized golf course, further diversifying its recreational offerings. while some might argue that a golf course detracts from the natural feel of a park, it's integrated thoughtfully, allowing both golfers and nature enthusiasts to coexist. the wide-open spaces also make it a fantastic spot for kite flying, especially on windy afternoons. with its wide-ranging appeal and commitment to environmental preservation, mather regional park truly offers a wholesome outdoor experience for the whole community. it’s a wonderful testament to how transformed...

I love love LOVE this park! It's so clear that the county takes extra special care of this place. The restrooms are perhaps the cleanest I've ever seen at any public park. It's MASSIVE too! There's so much to do out here, whether it's fishing, feeding the geese, or even going for a family cookout. This is THE spot to be. It is sad to see so many homeless people who seem to live in the park, but even THEY'RE a friendly bunch. I wish the government would do more to house these people, but at least here they have somewhere to be that isn't a slummy street, and that makes me happy. 5 stars!

Edit: whoever is taking care of the litter THANK YOU! Geese can get caught up in fishing line if you're not careful. It's also just so great to see such a trash free park. I've been to so many where litter was at the bottom of their priority list, and it takes away so much of the experience. I'm an amateur photographer, and I cannot stand having a picture...
