When you park, the Plug Hat Trail is across the street. It is probably about .3 mile paved walk with educational signs explaining the plants and animals in the area. The junipers and piñon smell great along with the views. If you make it all the way to Harpers Corner you get a better view but you really should do the 2-mile walk there

This is a very nice EASY trail that is really well maintained! Dog friendly with leash. We visited in February and there was snow on half of bull canyon trail we just looped back to the road. Plug hat butte had a small amount of snow on the trail. There is a nice fence that allows you to overlook and be safe doing so.

Nice rim trail and picnic area. Very quiet and scenic. They do have tables and bbq place. Kids will love it but be careful as you are in the edge of rim.

This is one of the most gorgeous views in Colorado and the West, in my opinion. The red and yellow sandstones scattered throughout the landscape are breath-taking. And it feels like you can see forever atop this butte (at least 100 miles or so). This lovely picnic area is in a piñon-juniper forest. It has picnic tables and grills, plus a short guided hike with 2 interpretive signs. There's another 1.2-mile hike on BLM land (adjacent the picnic area) that travels along the edge of the butte.. amazing views...

The start of a very beautiful scenic drive. This area has a gorgeous overlook with safety railing, plenty of parking, picnic tables and an ADA accessible trail. Since the only two things to do in Dinosaur NM is visit the one quarry exhibit and take the scenic drives, we stopped at each overlook. I won't bother reviewing all. This one is by...
